Try It Tuesday

Hello all!

Its been a while since I’ve done a Try It Tuesday and I’m super excited about today’s!

For Christmas, my sister Bridget got Huff the Hubs and I a Han Solo in Carbonite Ice Cube tray from Think Geek. You can use the tray for other things than just ice cubes….Like CHOCOLATE!

And seeing as how Valentine’s Day is the day after tomorrow, I thought Huff the Hubs might enjoy a pre-V-Day, nerdy treat!

To make the chocolate scruffy-looking nerf hearder, I gathered my tools:

~Ice cube tray

~”Southside” double-boiler (this is where you put water in a pot and then place a glass bowl on top)

~Chocolate chips (I used dark chocolate because it was the only thing in the pantry)

I assembled my double boiler and melted the chocolate:

And yes, I did scrape the sides with a spatula and ate the excess.

After the chocolate melted, I poured it into the ice cube tray. I tried really hard to spatula the top so it wouldn’t be so messy. I wasn’t very successful.

I put the tray in the freezer for about an hour and then….TA DA!

"Just relax for a moment. You're free of the carbonite."

“Just relax for a moment. You’re free of the carbonite.”

Yummy, right?! I wish I would’ve let the chocolate set in the ice cube tray for a while to help let the air out before I put it in the freezer. Still, I can’t wait to show Huff the Hubs the galactic goodies!

  1. You may have already heard of this, but you can tap it on the counter a few times first too, and that will help get rid of the air bubbles. That way you don’t have to just let it sit for a long time. I have had a lot of recipes for cakes and quick breads call for this.
