Sadly, today’s Try it Tuesday is not edible. It is however, ADORABLE. So that makes up for it, right? Right?
I saw today’s Try It on Pinterest (duh):
Apparently, all you need is some felt and a cute frame and you’ve got a sassy little ring holder for your accessories! I have rings that don’t fit in my jewelry box, so I thought I’d give this a try.
Like I said, all you need is some felt and a picture frame. I went to Hobby Lobby and got these (with my 40% off coupon–holla!):
First, I took the frame apart, removing the cardboard backing and glass:
After that, I measured my felt. I knew it needed to be a little bit bigger than the frame opening, but not by much. Then, I cut four strips of felt:
Next, I rolled the four pieces of felt as tightly as I could (kind of like cigars) and then glued down the ends. After that, I glued them all together:
When the rolls were glued, I squeezed hot glue onto the back of the frame, just along the edges of the frame opening:
Then I glued the small piece of cardboard that acts as a spacer in the frame to the back of the rolled felt, just to reinforce it a little. When that was done, so was I!
Here’s the finished product:
I think this is an EXCELLENT idea! Especially if you’re doing a gift exchange where you have to bring a homemade gift. If I do it again, I think I’ll try to roll the felt just a teensy but tighter. My nails are so long now that it was tough for me to roll the felt too tight. It just helps hold the rings in place a bit better.
What do you think?
