Try It Tuesday

As you know, Huff the Hubs and I recently added a third member to our clan. She’s probably the most adorable thing ever. Seriously.
However the smells that come from her? Not so adorable.

In fact, during a diaper change last night, Huff the Hubs literally said: “I think my nose hairs are singed!”
So when I saw this on Pinterest, I knew I had to try it.

I have a Scentsy warmer but the scents I have are either way too strong for my sinuses or Huff the Hubs hates them. The only scent that we both agree smells delightful is laundry detergent. So this pin was basically made for us!

All you need is a Scentsy (or equivalent) warmer and Downy Unstopables. (I’ve actually been wanting to try the Unstopables for a while, but I’m leery of putting stuff  in my laundry that isn’t soap. I don’t want it to ruin my clothes.)

I actually got this packet in the Dollar Spot at Target! I didn’t want to buy a huge bottle if it didn’t work.

Smells like teen spirit...if teen spirit smelled like detergent.

Smells like teen spirit…if teen spirit smelled like detergent.

First, I had to clean out my warmer. Some think it’s better to let your scent melt and just pour it out. But I’ve found it’s so much easier to take the wax out when it’s hard. I just used a spoon and it came out in one big piece. Which is awesome because I don’t have to trash it; I can put it in a Ziploc bag and use it again later!

"Alas, earwax..."

“Alas, earwax…”

After you clean out your warmer, pour in the Unstopables.

Take THAT stink!

Take THAT stink!

Then turn on your warmer!

What's that intoxicating aroma?

What’s that intoxicating aroma?

I was a little skeptical because after 30 minutes, I still couldn’t really smell anything. But I left the house to run an errand and when I came back, the apartment smelled AWESOME! It was like I did the laundry and it filled the whole house! It wasn’t overpowering like many of the Scentsy scents, either, which was great!

This Try it Tuesday, I call a success!
