Halloween in Hollywood

I’m not going to lie… Halloween isn’t really my favorite holiday.

I don’t like haunted houses (full disclosure: I once peed my pants in a haunted house…I will not tell you how old I was), I don’t like scary movies, and I feel like–as you get older–most girls see Halloween as “I-can-dress-like-a-slut-and-its-okay” Day. The things I do like about Halloween? The candy and {non-scary} movies.

What are my favorite movies? I’m glad you asked…

Hocus Pocus

This is reminiscent of me and my two sisters after someone has eaten all the Nutella.

OMG. I freaking LOVED this movie as a kid. The witches were hilarious, the storyline was awesome, and the big reveal of Zachary Binx at the end of the movie? Let me just say that’s when I had my first “celebrity” crush. Plus, you’ve got a wise-crackin’ zombie, excellent tunes, and one of my favorite movie quotes EVER.

Teen Witch

"My clothes are so hip!"

“My clothes are so hip!”

This is another gem from my childhood, courtesy of the Disney Channel. Every fall, this movie was on repeat on the weekends leading up to Halloween. I won’t lie. I always thought that when the main character had her “metamorphosis” that her clothes were off the hook! I wanted her outfits SO. FREAKING. BAD.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

Good grief.

Good grief.

Even though I’ve only seen this movie a few times, I still adore it. Mostly because this movie centers mainly on Linus. He truly believes in the Great Pumpkin, even though no one else does. Plus, who doesn’t love the Peanuts gang?

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

Harry Potter and the Pre-Pubescent Year at Hogwarts

I know this isn’t technically a “Halloween” movie, but still! Its got wizards, a Dark Lord, floating Jacko-Lanterns, and trolls! Plus, you people know how much of an HP fan I am. I named my daughter Hermione for Merlin’s sake! You know I had to add this to the list!

Nightmare Before Christmas

What's this? What's this?

What’s this? What’s this?

Not going to lie: many of Tim Burton’s animated movies freak me out. I actually didn’t even watch this movie until LAST year! But after watching it (and making myself get past some of the freaky parts) I really liked it! I love the story of Jack! He’s probably one of my favorite Burton characters now!
