Cue the Opening Theme

This morning on my drudging commute to work, the deejays on my favorite morning show were talking about the best television theme songs. They named some of the greats (Golden Girls, M*A*S*H, and Cheers) but left out a few that I felt should be included.

Full House

“Everywhere You Look”

Who didn’t butcher the words to this song as a kid? (When Huff the Hubs was little he’d sing one of the lines as: “Meat-man TV!” ha!) You knew when 7:00 on Tuesday nights rolled around, you had to fight for the “good spot” on the couch and settle in to see what shenanigans those crazy Tanners would get into this week.

The Simpsons

“The Simpsons Theme”

As a kid, dinner didn’t start until you heard the opening line, “The Simpsooooooooonsssss….” and subsequent: “Do do do do do do do, do do do do!”

The Addams Family

“The Addams Family”

This song is on everyone’s Halloween party playlist! We all know it and all mess up the finely choreographed snaps (that have to be fake; no one snaps that well!).

Looney Tunes

“The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down”

I was raised on these cartoons because my dad was such a huge fan. Hearing the Looney Tunes theme on a Saturday morning was my cue that my dad was done watching This Old House and we kids could have control of the remote.

What are your favorite TV theme songs? Any make the cut?
