There’s been a nip in the air the past several days which means it’s finally time for mugs full of warm, cozy drinks to make our descent into fall and winter a little less chilly.
If you’re a fan of hot beverages but would like to find one without the words “pumpkin” or “peppermint” before it, have I got the drink for you!
Here’s what you need:
1 bag Earl Grey tea
Your favorite sweetener (I use Stevia)
Lavender (optional; the original recipe called for it but I couldn’t find it, nor did I want my latte to taste like potpourri)
First, make your tea as normal. Let the bag steep for about 3 minutes. After that, pour 1/2 cup milk (I only used about 1/4 cup because my mug was so small) into a small glass dish with a lid.
Put the lid on tight and shake the milk for a few seconds until you see bubbles:
Pop the container in the microwave (lid still attached) for about 30 seconds. Be sure to watch the milk–you don’t want to let it boil! When the milk is finished, pour 1/4 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tbsp sweetener (more or less to taste), and the milk into your tea. Mix well and enjoy!
This drink is tasty AND inexpensive! Two of my favorite things! I would’ve liked a more bold flavor, but Earl Grey by itself isn’t the most bold of teas. I might try to jazz it up next time with some nutmeg or maybe a flavored creamer instead of just plain milk. But it may my afternoon much more cozy!
