Unfortunately, you may not be very excited about today’s Try It, but if you’ve got a Little One, they will be super excited about it!

Here’s what you need:

ingredients

~1 egg

~1 cup white or wheat flour

~1/2 cup baby cereal

~1 tbsp oil

~2 tsp brown sugar

~1 1/2 tsps baking powder

~1 tsp cinnamon

~1 tsp full of vanilla

~1-2 tablespoons baby food (I used a Go Go Squeez Apple Strawberry Pouch)

~1 cup 100% juice

I actually prepped everything last night so I could make Huff the Babe some pancakes for breakfast (plus, it was a lot less stressful to get everything ready and have a quick assembly in the morning).

First, I poured all of the dry ingredients into a plastic container:

Then, I measured out all of the wet ingredients (minus the egg) into a different plastic container:

Then, this morning, I combined all of the ingredients (including the egg) and whisked:

The batter was a little thick, so I added some water (as per the original site’s instructions) until I got to a semi-thin consistency:

After that, I poured the batter into a skillet over medium heat:

Two minutes later, this little princess was one happy camper!

I really liked this Try It! I’ve been trying to think of things to make using the leftover rice cereal (because Huff the Babe doesn’t eat baby food anymore) and this is a much better option than just throwing it out! Plus, I poured the extra batter into an old water bottle and put in the fridge. Now we have pancake batter for the rest of the week! Woo!

Have you tried any recipes using rice cereal? How did they turn out?
