Try It Tuesday

Soon after Huff the Babe was born, I started a new makeup routine I found on Pinterest. Sidebar: its awesome, simple, and I LURVES it! But, I’ve been noticing that my skin isn’t as fresh as it used to be. Especially now, with the cold winter drying out my face and the lack of vitamin D (due to it being colder than Elsa’s hands outside) I realized I needed to start using a foundation to even my skin tone and just help my skin look more luminous. I didn’t know where to start, so I thought I’d do a head-to-head challenge with some of the highest-rated drugstore foundations.

Here are the four foundations I tried:

FullSizeRender

Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless Foundation

IMG_0600

Price: $12.98

Pros:

  • Went on smooth
  • Lasted all day
  • Many shades

Cons:

  • After I put it on, it was sort of cakey and powdery
  • A little dry

L’oreal True Match

Price: $7.97

Pros:

  • Light, not cakey
  • Basically fragrance free (I don’t like foundation with a strong smell)
  • Wide selection of tones

Cons:

  • Didn’t really give me the coverage or skin correcting I was hoping for. I still felt like I could see my dark circles and uneven skin tone areas.

Rimmel London BB Cream Matte Beauty Balm

Price: $6.47

Pros:

  • Fragrance free
  • Blended well
  • Light
  • Stayed on all day
  • Great coverage

Cons:

  • The ONLY con I have (and trust me, I had to really search for one) was that there are not a lot of colors to choose from, which may be frustrating for some harder-to-match skin tones.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

IMG_0599

Price: $7.44

Pros:

  • Went on smooth
  • Light, not a heavy coverage

Cons:

  • Did not cover dark circles AT ALL

The winner? Hands down, Rimmel London’s BB Cream! Not only is it reasonably priced, but it works BEAUTIFULLY! I absolutely loved it!

What foundation do you use? Do you even use foundation?

  1. I use cover girl BB cream and then l’oreal mineral powder foundation. It’s the makeup with the brush on top of it…. I love those together
