Rock the Vote!

So, tomorrow is Super Tuesday. Do you know who you’re voting for? Do you know where each candidate stands on the issues? Do you know where YOU stand on the issues?

Voting Gif

Not to worry! I have some websites that will help you out so you can make an informed decision before running to the polls tomorrow!

I Side With

This is a great way to not only see which candidate your views line up with, but also to help you realize which issues are most important to you. I took the quiz and it really made me think and dig deeper into issues I hadn’t really thought about that much before. Its a great tool!

Inside Gov

Inside Gov

This site is great because it helps you to compare cold, hard data and look at just the facts of the candidates. Inside Gov lays out pretty much everything you need to know about each candidate, including where most of their campaign funds have come from as well as their political history.

On The Issues

on the issues

On the Issues is another great site that helps you look at the viewpoints of every candidate and where they stand on certain issues. The site also has videos from various debates as well as excerpts from books written by the candidates!

Honestly, it doesn’t matter to me who you vote for (Wait; what am I saying? Of course it does! I want my person to win!). But I’m not here to say, “Vote for this person!” I’m just here to encourage to get informed on the issues and get out there and VOTE. You need to exercise your right and let your voice be heard! Set a reminder on your phone, write a reminder on a post-it note and put it where you can see it. Look up your polling place and just VOTE. If you don’t, I’ll find you and smack you.

If You Don't Vote

Happy last Friday in February, y’all! I am SO glad this month is almost over! Not because I hate the cold and the fact that my Valentine candy has all been eaten, but because that means the little nerdling baking in my belly will soon grace us with his presence. But until then, I will regale you all with the awesomely geeky goodies I’ve found!

I don’t know how many purses I have. Probably over 10. But doesn’t every girl? Not only that, I also have about 20 little pouches to store various things inside. I would gladly give them all up for THIS one!

hermione pouch

Isn’t it adorable?! It comes from Red Bubble artist Tanya Richards! I’m thinking I may need to order this for my little Hermione!

Does the man in your life need some help grooming (especially in the nose area) but he thinks that’s just for “old, uncool” guys? Then help him embrace the manscape by getting him this!

atomic nose hair trimmer

Its an Atomic Blaster nose hair trimmer from Perpetual Kid! The trimmer works by simply pulling on the trigger!

As a kid, I was OBSESSED with dinosaurs. It was my dream to one day travel the world and dig up dino bones and ancient artifacts. This, of course, was before I realized I would have to take a ton of science classes, probably get my Ph. D., and it would be nothing like Indiana Jones. Le sigh. But, with Think Geek, I can get myself clean and feel like Dr. Sattler!

archaeology soap

This Archaeology Soap from TG features different layers of scented soap along with two different dino figurines inside! And, according to the website the soap also includes: “Pumice in the bottom layer and bentonite clay in the second layer so the “ground” will wear away differently (like it does in nature!)”

I think we can all agree on two things: 1. Star Wars is bae and 2. Adele is a musical genius. If you don’t agree, then don’t scroll down. If you do, get ready to be blown away!

I. NEED. THIS. IN. MY. LIFE. As do you. Get it here!

Last week, a friend of mine sent me a picture of a dessert she made. I immediately wanted to eat all of it, it looked so tasty! She graciously sent me the recipe from Pinterest and I whipped it up last night!

Try It Fruit Pizza Original

Nummy-looking, right?! Here’s what you need:

Try It Tuesday 2-23-16~Two packs of crescent rolls

~Pineapple tidbits

~Corn starch

~Cream cheese

~Any fruit you’d like to add! I used bananas, kiwis, and frozen blueberries/strawberries (mostly because that’s what I had on hand and thought I’d save some cash by using what I already had)

~Granulated sugar (not pictured)

First, light your oven to 350 (or 375, depending on what cookie sheet you use–i.e., non-stick, dark, light, etc.) Then, unroll your crescent rolls onto a jelly roll pan or cookie sheet and bake 9-12 minutes.

While the crust cools, strain and drain the pineapple tidbits and save the juice.

In a bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of the pineapple juice, the cream cheese, and 1/2 cup of sugar.

Then, spread it onto the cooled crust.

Next, add your fruit! After you’ve added your fruit, take the remaining pineapple juice and pour it into a small pot. Add 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until the mixture thickens up.

Then, drizzle it over your fruit pizza and voila!

OMG, y’all. I seriously could’ve eaten the entire thing! It was DELISH! I think next time we go to a family function where I have to bring food, I’m totally bringing this!

Mommy Monday

Mommy Monday New Banner

With everything out there in way of parenting advice: blogs, articles, books, magazines, celebrities; sometimes us moms can take things a little too seriously. Add that into the never-ending guilt and fear you feel that whatever move you are making could potentially turn your child into a serial killer or a “live off the grid because I’m searching for Sasquatch” type of crazy person, its enough to make us all feel like failures.

Sometimes you just have to tell all of the different media outlets to gent bent and do things your own way and trust your own instincts. What made me realize this? A long hike? No. An article telling me to not listen to articles? No. It was a sketch comedy video showing just how ridiculous I can be…

Sound familiar?

Trust your instincts, ladies. We got this.

Y’all, I’m 33 weeks. I feel like all I do is complain about my pregnancy: the lower back pain, the inability to sleep, the heartburn…sorry, I’m doing it again.

I realized today that I need to lighten up a little (well, as much as my hormones will let me-ha!) and I thought maybe there were some expectant mommas out there that were also having a rough go of it (and just mommas in general!) and I’ve found some funny videos that are sure to tickle your funny bone!

First up, an Iggy Azalea pardoy!

And, an added bonus, cutie-patootie Joseph Gordon-Levitt singing about how moms are basically the greatest people in the world:

Enjoy, mommas!

Happy Friday, peeps! I realized this week I haven’t done a Fan Girl Friday in TWO WEEKS! I know; bad, blogger! But I’ve found some geeky goodies and nerdy news to help you kick off your V-Day weekend!

A few weeks ago, I was out running errands and saw the COOLEST window cling! So when I got home, I immediately searched for it online and found it on Etsy!

Fan Girl Friday Hogwarts Honor Student

Seriously, how cute is this?! I need this for the Mom-mobile. I mean, my kid’s name is Hermione so its perfect, right?

And speaking of the magical world of HP, JoAnn’s Fabrics has recently acquired some new Potter prints!

Fan Girl Friday Harry Potter Fabric

AHH! Excuse me while I go spend an unholy amount of Sickles on this fabric…

You guys know I’m a HUGE fan of Friends. I quote it at least once a day and I’ve watched the entire series all the way through probably a dozen times. So when I saw this, I got all floopy!

Fan Girl Friday Friends Candle

There’s a Kickstarter campaign to help a candle maker start his business including a line of Friends inspired aromatherapy candles! The “Ross” is called “Pivot! Pivot! Pivot!” (totally fitting). I really hope the “Monica” is called “Monana”.

You know when you travel and you consider your favorite destination your second home? That’s how I feel about London. And I think I need to go back for a fourth time, because the one and only Sir Ian McKellen is going to be riding around a double decker!

Fan Girl Friday Sir Ian McKellen hosting bus tours of London

Yep, in celebration of the British Film Institute’s Shakespeare on Film program (which was started by McKellen) Gandalf himself will be serving as a tour guide, showing tourists filming locations from his film Richard III. According to Radio Times, the white wizard said:

“I always thought it might be fun to take a bus tour around the sites of Richard III. You would watch snippets of the film and then arrive at the actual location,” [McKellen] said. “I want to be the tour leader.”

Let’s pack our bags, people!

Happy fangirling!

Ever since hitting the third trimester, my body has decided to start punishing me. Mostly by making me feel like everything from now non-existent waist down is just going to crumble under the weight of my son. Seriously. I don’t remember being in this much pain when I was pregnant with Hermione.

Anywhoo, so with all of this pressure on my back, legs, hips, feet, and ankles I realized I needed to do something. Especially since I’m not due for (at least) another 5 1/2 weeks. There’s no need to suffer for another month if I can do something about it.

I asked my doc what I could do and she recommending getting a maternity belt. Like this:

Try It Maternity Belt

When I first saw it I was like, “Ugh. Do I really want to wear something like this?” But then the saleswoman at Motherhood Maternity showed me how to use it. She basically put it on for me and adjusted the straps. When she was done, it was like a bright light from Heaven appeared and the angels began to sing.

This thing is basically the greatest thing since epidurals. It lifts, it relieves pressure, and helps me be able to walk to another room without dragging one of my legs behind me like a wounded animal.

My only complaint is the fact that I have to take it off every time I have to pee. Which, let’s face it, is basically every 10 minutes now that we’re in the downhill slide of pregnancy.

Even with that, though, this maternity belt is seriously the best. I can stand/walk/exercise again! HOLLA!

I saw online the other day that a Reddit user asked his wife what was on her mind, so she drew a picture, showing him how women can have about 50 thoughts all at the same time.

I thought this was pretty interesting, so I decided to do it for myself!

Here’s what I came up with:

Her’s Day Thursday

Her's Day Thursday3

On Her’s Day Thursday, I like to highlight strong women; women who have impacted their community, their country, or the world with their bravery and talents. And while I think its VERY important for young girls to have strong, female role models, I think its equally important to have strong male role models in their lives as well. And no one makes an impression on a daughter’s life quite like her father.

And that is why I am loving the new commercials from Pantene, showing the importance of time between fathers and daughters:

I’ve got yet another nummy crockpot meal for you today! This one has a little spice to it, too! This one was Pinterest find, but it actually comes straight from the Kraft website!

Try It Tex Mex Chicken (1)

Here’s what you need:

~1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch-wide strips (I actually just used some shredded chicken I had prepped and frozen a few weeks ago and it was tasty!)

~2 Tbsp. (about 1/2 of 1-oz. pkg.) TACO BELL® Taco Seasoning Mix

~2 Tbsp. flour

~1 each green and red pepper, cut into 1-inch-wide strips (again, I used some frozen I prepped a few weeks ago!)

~1 cup frozen corn (I had a bag of southwest corn, pepper, and bean mix that I hadn’t used yet, so I threw that in there instead)

~1-1/2 cups TACO BELL® Thick & Chunky Salsa (I used Newman’s Own; just a personal preference)

~2 cups hot cooked long-grain white rice (yeah, we don’t do white rice; I used brown)

~1/2 cup KRAFT Mexican Style Finely Shredded Four Cheese

First, coat your chicken with the taco seasoning mix and flour in your slow cooker.

Try It Tex Mex Chicken (2)

Then, add the veggies and salsa and mix well. Cover with lid and cook on LOW 6 to 8 hours (or on HIGH 3 to 4 hours).

Try It Tex Mex Chicken (3)

When time’s up, stir the contents! Serve over rice and cheese.

I really liked this, but Huff the Hubs wasn’t too impressed. He said he likes my Mexican casserole better. Though I liked this because of the ease! Have you ever tried this before? What were your results? Share in the comments below!
