Try It Tuesday

A few weeks ago, I started getting stuff ready for Huff the Babe’s arrival. I made a couple of freezer meals, worked ahead on my editing schedule, and probably did more laundry than I ever thought possible. I knew that once we officially became a two-kid household, things would go topsy-turvy.

I also knew that meant I would need to heal as quickly as possible. So I scoured the Internet, searching for ways to naturally help my body heal after a vaginal delivery. That’s when I found this “recipe” for soothing post-partum padsicles:

When I had Huff the Tot, Lady Town suffered . A LOT. I pushed for two hours AND had a third degree tear. It. Was. PAINFUL. Like, if I sneezed within the first week of giving birth, I wanted to die.

I was afraid that might happen this time around, so I decided I’d give these “padsicles” a try.

Here’s what you need:

~Overnight maxi pads
~2 cups witch hazel (you can get this at CVS)
~1/2 cup pure, edible aloe vera juice (you can get this at any health food store)
~15-20 drops lavender essential oil
~15-20 drops rosemary essential oil
~15-20 drops German chamomile essential oil
~foil

Combine everything in a bowl.

Unfold your pads and pour a tbsp of the mixture in a line down the middle of the pad. (I kept the paper on the “wings” so I could utilize them later.)

Fold back up, wrap in aluminum foil and place in the freezer!

¡Voilà! Padscicles! When you’re ready to use them, take one out, let it thaw for about 1-2 minutes and then use!

(I made sure to label them so Huff the Hubs wouldn’t think it was something he could eat, lol)

These things are FANTASTIC! They feel amazing on the “tender area” and soothe the pain! This was most definitely a Pinterest win! (The original site said you can also use these for c-section pain. Just unfold the pad and place across your stitches!)

Have you ever tried these? What were your results? Share in the comments below!

  1. Oooh! I’ve seen these but wondered if this was just someone playing a cruel joke on the worst possible audience to trick. Haha! Now I want to go push someone out my bits and try it.
