Happy Friday, geeklings! I’ve got some nerdy nifties to kick off this weekend and get it started on the fandom foot!

Any followers out there in the San Antonio area? You are SO lucky, ma dudes because our favorite geeky gift shop, ThinkGeek, is opening up an actual brick-and-mortar store in the Texas town!

tg store

This is the newest store to the chain’s growing locations in Miami, Orlando, New York City, Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth! Road trip, anyone?

Anyone else freak out when they have something in their teeth after eating? Well worry no more, my young padawan! The Dark Side has you covered!
star-wars-darth-vader-toothsaber-xlThis awesome toothpick dispenser (made in Japan) hands out mini sabers for those tough pieces that get stuck in your chompers! Just imagine how bad-a you’d feel  attacking that stubborn corn on the cob from lunch with one of these!

Y’all, I’ve got about a dozen Tardises inside my home. But, I still don’t think its enough. I’m thinking I need to invest in this AWESOME cuckoo clock from Bradford Exchange!

Featuring Peter Capaldi as the Doctor,  this clock also showcases some of the Doctor’s most infamous rivals as well as a few friends!

Is anyone else obsessed with Netflix’s Stranger Things? Yes? I’m not the only one?! WOO! I knew I could count on you guys! I think we all need these shirts, then!

Seriously, we can all snag them from Le Rage Shirts and tell people, “She’s my friend and she’s crazy!”

I have made my love of peanut butter and chocolate no secret over the years. I’m seriously a little obsessed. So you can imagine my glee when I saw this tweet:

I have been waiting months, MONTHS for the new Reese’s cups to hit the stores. I mean, a Reese’s Cup filled with Reese’s Pieces?! I. COULD. NOT. WAIT. When I saw they were finally  out, this was my reaction:

My sister picked up a few at a local 7-11 and texted me the joyous news. I immediately went to her house and tried them out!

OMG, you guys. They looked like the Reese’s Cups we all know and love but they were better. Much, much better! With usual Reese’s Cups, the edges are hard and the peanut butter is a tad on the dry side. Not these, my friend. They were softer and the peanut butter was SUPER creamy! Suffice to say that if they take these off the market, I will protest! They. Are. DELISH!

Have you tried these? What did you think?

If you’ve gone to a baby shower lately, you’ve probably seen some of the super cool products that are on the market for babies, toddlers, and mommas! I saw a post the other day about some UH-MAY-ZING gear for littles and HAD to share!

Star Kids Snack & Play Travel Tray

This travel tray is PERFECT for those long road trips that you want your kids to be occupied with toys but don’t want to be spending your time dislocating your arm as you paw around the floorboard for that toy truck that Little Johnny dropped for the millionth time!

Sippy Sure The Medicine Dispensing Sippy Cup

I don’t know about you, but I loathe giving Huff the Tot medicine. For some reason when she sees that dropper of Tylenol, she loses her every-lovin’ mind! She flails her arms around and ends up spilling most of it down her shirt leaving me to try and calculate just how much she actually got in her system. This would help SOOOO much with those battles! The Sippy Sure has a removable dosage cup so you can get your little one to take their meds without spilling it everywhere!

PhillUp Hangable Kid’s Cups

These awesome cups were designed by parents that were sick and tired of washing tons of dishes everyday because their kids “needed” a new cup every time they got a drink of water. Phillup Cups stick to glass, metal, tile and fiberglass and are color-coded for each kid!

There have been so many times that we’ve gone out to eat, only to realize we’ve left Huff the Tot’s sippy cup at home. And, unfortunately, not every restaurant has kid’s cups or lids (though you’d think they would). Enter, SnipSnap. This handy little device can transform any cup or glass into a spill-proof kid’s cup! They come in Snug Spouts (AKA, sippy cups) or Snug Straws (in the picture above) for older kids!

I don’t know about any other breastfeeding mommas, but I always hate getting asked the question, “How much is your baby eating at every feeding?” Uh, I don’t know. Its not like these milk makers come with an indicator that shows my kiddo ate four ounces. Until NOW. Meet MilkSense: The Personal Breastfeeding Monitor. This handy dandy tool calculates how much milk is in each breast before each feeding as well as after so you know how much he’s taking in! Awesome right?!

High five for making it through another week! Not only is it one of the best days of the week because now there’s no work for two days, BUT I’ve also found geeky goodies to make you say, “SQUEEEEEEE!”

Did you know that there are over 60,000 kids in the United States that are legally blind? These kids are missing out on some of the greatest things in childhood and this didn’t sit well with the fine folks over at the Dorina Nowill Foundation for the Blind and they decided to do something about it! They created some Lego-inspired building blocks with the Braille alphabet to help kids learn to read as well as have fun! Check out the video:

You can help get the word out with the hashtag: #BrailleBricksForAll

I may be the only person that truly loved Suicide Squad (by reading my Facebook newsfeed I’m thinking a lot of people will not be going to see the new Justice League flick). But one of the reasons I loved it so much was because of all the hidden gems throughout the film! If you didn’t notice ’em, don’t worry, The Nerdist has ya covered (Warning: spoilers!):

Potterheads everywhere lost our minds when Harry Potter and The Cursed Child came out a few weeks ago. Now, we have yet another reason to go crazy with happiness: JK Rowling has confirmed that three more books will be released! AHHHH!!!

According to, these short story collections will “take readers deeper into the “dark side” of the Harry Potter wizarding world”. MERLIN’S. BEARD. It’s about to get real, y’all! Each book is about 10K words in length and will be available on Pottermore and other book-selling sites!

Happy fangirling!

If you’ve read my blog at all, you know that I love to write about strong women. Especially strong women that have paved the way for future generations in lines of work that are predominantly male. So when I saw this trailer, I literally got goosebumps!

The film, Hidden Figures, tells the story of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughn, and Mary Jackson (a physicist, space scientist, and mathematician, respectively); three incredible women who used their brain power to help the Project Mercury mission (aka, the mission in which John Glenn orbited the Earth)  a success. Not only did these women break massive ground for women in STEM fields, but also for women of color.

(The film is actually an adaption of a book of the same name by Margot Lee Shetterly. Read more about it here!)

Last week was World Breastfeeding Week and I let it pass without mentioning it! My bad!

When I nursed Huff the Tot, I feel like I made an okay amount of milk. I mean, I pumped enough so she could go to my aunt’s at-home daycare a few days a week and had some bags stored here and there. Now, with Huff the Babe, I feel like I should just permanently change my name to Bessie the Heifer with the all the milk I’ve been making! I don’t know if its because this kid nurses ALL. THE. TIME. or because I’ve changed my diet a tad, but I’ve got about 100+ ounces of milk in my freezer and I’ve been able to donate over 300 ounces to a friend who is fostering a newborn.

I know that I’m incredibly blessed and some mommas may have a tough time producing milk or are nervous about whether or not their supply will be enough when their Wee Ones make their appearance.

And, in honor of NBFW, I thought I would share some of my favorite tips and tricks that have helped my supply*:

This is what helped me the most when trying to increase my supply with HtT. You’ll constantly smell like a Waffle House (for some reason Fenugreek has a maple syrup-y odor) but there’s worse things to smell like! You can grab this at GNC or pretty much any health food store.

Mother’s Milk Tea

mother's milk tea

I’m not the biggest fan of this tea–the taste is a little funky–but I know some mommas who SWEAR by it. Plus, its caffeine free (meaning you can drink it anytime and worry about being up all night; aside from getting up every two hours to nurse) and its carried at Walmart, Target, and Crest stores!

Lactation Cookies

What?! Cookies can help lactation? Yes, ma’am they can! This, by far, was my favorite milk boosting food–they’re sooooo good! If you can’t find the MilkMakers brand, there are TONS of recipes for lactation cookies on Pinterest!

I’ve always loved almonds because they pack a punch when it comes to nutrition. Not only are they great for strengthening your immune system, preventing colon cancer, and improving your skin, but they boost your milk supply too!

Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes are another one of my favorite foods in general, so when I found out they were great for nursing mamas, I did a Carlton dance of joy! You can grab small, cellophane-wrapped ones at the grocery store and pop them in the microwave for a side dish at dinner! Easy-peasy!

Other ways to help get those milk makers working: stay hydrated, let your little one nurse often (and also pump often), and stay away from caffeinated drinks that dehydrate you. Check out La Leche League’s website for more helpful info and find nursing mom support groups in your area!

*Clearly, I’m not a doctor. If I was, I wouldn’t have time to write a blog; I’d be too busy vacationing with my family on our yacht. I’m just saying that these are some things that worked for meEverybody is different and every body works differently.

Fan Girl Friday!

Fan Girl Friday Background

Happy Friday, y’all! Sorry there was no FGF last week. This stay-at-home-mom gig is a lot more hectic than I thought! But, thanks to My Little Ponies being on Netflix, I can blog away today!

Its August, which means its every parent’s favorite time of year–back to school! And I’ve got some nerdy nifties to help send your little geeklings back to school with style!

Keep doodling to a minimum with this throwback, 3D Mario notebook from ThinkGeek:

Not only is there an animation on the front cover, but the pages feature game art! 1 Up!

Now, where is your young padawan going to store his or her pencils and pens? Why, in this super cool, spaced-out backpack of course!

This colorful bag is sure to wow in the hallways with its intergalactic awesomeness! Not only does this bag feature compartments to store all your stuff, but there’s also a padded laptop sleeve to keep that MacBook in tip-top shape all year long!

You’ve got the supplies, now what is your n00b going to wear? There’s no need to drop into Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions when you’ve got Alison Wunderland’s online shop!

Forget Taylor Swift, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are the original #squadgoals! Your young Griffyndor will definitely turn every head of Fluffy while sporting this tee!

Now, to take YOU back to your school days, I’ve got some AH-MAY-ZING news! Our favorite cartoon wallaby, Rocko, is returning to TV! This is not a drill, people!

That’s right, according to Entertainment Weekly Rocko and his pal’s of O-Town are returning for a made for TV flick! No word on the release date yet, but I will be sure to keep you updated!

Happy fangirling!

Her’s Day Thursday

Her's Day Thursday3

In keeping with last week’s post about some lovely young ladies competing for Team USA in the Rio Olympics. Today, I want to tell y’all about some awesome women that aren’t letting age stop them from achieving Olympic greatness!

Kristin Armstrong

Kristin Armstrong

This week, Kristin Armstrong took home her third iOlympic gold medal in the women’s individual time trial (cycling) the day before her 43rd birthday! She battled through a nosebleed and osteoarthritis in BOTH hips! What a BAMF!

Oksana Chusovitina

Oksana Chusovtina

Oksana has been comepeting in the Olympics for more than 25 years! She is proof that hard work pays off if you stick with it! Just check her out:

Kim Rhode

Kim Rhode has been competing in the skeet shoot and double trap shooting since she was 13 years old! She’s been competing in the Olympics for TWENTY years and, while in Rio this year, became the first U.S. Olympian to qualify for an Olympic team on FIVE different continents! What a sharp shooter!

These ladies prove age is just a number!

Try It Tuesday

Y’all know I love trying new products, especially when they are healthy and make my life easier. So when I spotted these while grocery shopping, I HAD to try them!

I’ve always been a big fan of Jimmy Dean Delights products and was hopeful for these! After all, two of these frittatas pack 14g of protein, less than 300 calories, and are made with spinach and bacon!

All you had to do was pop them in the microwave for 1 minute 45 seconds and BAM! Breakfast is served.

I won’t lie, I was a tad disappointed. They had an odd, sweet taste to them that kind of ruined it for me. Huff the Hubs liked it okay, but said it probably wouldn’t be something he ate everyday. I think I’ll stick to my egg cups!

What about you? Have you tried these? What did you think? Share in the comments below!

Mommy Monday

Yesterday at church, a sweet old lady that always sits behind us showed us something very special to her. It was a small notebook she bought back in the 50’s/60’s. Inside were quotes from her daughter when she was a toddler.

She handed it over to Huff the Hubs and I and said, “I’ve been wanting to share this with you for a while. I love watching your children in church. I just wanted to pass on a little something if I could: write down what your kids say. They’re only little for a small amount of time and the things they say need to be treasured.”

I seriously thought I might cry!

It reiterated to me that this was the best $13 I have ever spent:

my quotable kid

This book helps you document all the hilarious, sweet, and inappropriate things toddlers say so you can reminisce (and also embarrass your kids)!

I can’t wait to bring up this quote at Hermione’s 18th birthday:

(In her defense, she had heard Momma say that a time or ten; breastfeeding can be rough, y’all!)

Do you write down your kids’ quotes? You should start now!
