Y’all know I love to try new products, and I have found two new ones I can’t wait to share with you! One is on the healthy side and the other? Wellll…. not so much. Whoops.First up, a new twist on spaghetti!

When my family and I tried the Body for Life program about 8 years ago, we switched all of our pasta from the starchy, white noodles to whole grain. And, honestly, we couldn’t tell a difference. So when I saw these noodles at the store, I was hopeful:

These non-GMO noodles are made with spinach, zucchini, broccoli, parsley, and kale–all GREAT for you greens! I was a little nervous that these noodles would have a distinctive taste…kale is basically spinach’s dirty, disgusting cousin after all. But I couldn’t even taste the greens! And actually, I was so caught up in enjoying my spaghetti, I forgot to take a pic of the cooked pasta!

My all-time favorite dessert is cheesecake. Because of this, whenever I see cheesecake-flavored anything I HAVE to try it! So when I spotted these at Walmart, they immediately went into the buggy!

These were… Okay. To me they were more white chocolate than cheesecake-y. I think I would have liked them better had there been some that had a graham cracker filling, just to break up the ultra-sweetness of the white chocolate flavor.

Have you tried either of these products? What did you think? Share in the comments below!

Mommy Monday

It’s finally here, Mommas. The day when your children will lose their ever-lovin’ minds for a piece of candy. In my home we call that “everyday”, but the rest of the world calls it Halloween. Gird your loins. It’s probably going to get rough. If you haven’t already, get your plan together, just like the hilarious ladies over at The BreakWomb!

Have a safe and fun Halloween!

Fan Girl Friday!

Happy Friday, fangirls and boys! Even though its been a busy week, I have found some nerdy nifties to make your weekend be filled with geeky joy!

I’m sure most of you are ECSTATIC that it is finally #PSLseason and that means pumpkin flavored errythang! This year, though, its not just pumpkin that’s making the rounds, but butterscotch as well! M&M’s will be debuting their butterscotch-flavored candies very soon and–good news!–sources say they taste JUST. LIKE. BUTTERBEER!

So even if you can’t get away to Harry Potter World, bust open a bag of these, pop in HP #1 in the DVD player, and don those robes! It’ll be like you’re back at Hogwarts!

When I was a kid, I thought I was a bad-a clothing designer because I was a Fashion Plates pro! Now, thanks to an awesome company called Picture This, kids can wear their actual drawings/designs!

57c48f51170000a014c763f1

Picture This was founded by a mother who created a dress designed by her daughter. Her little one loved the dress and lit up when she told people, “I’m wearing my imagination!” Now kids everyone can do the same!

This year, Star Trek is celebrating their 50th anniversary! There’s a lot of limited-edition gear coming out, but I think my favorite is from RockLove Jewelry! Just check out this GORGEOUS Starfleet ring!

Not only do they have awesome jewelry for Trekkers, but they TONS of fandoms to choose from!

And speaking of a-DORK-able jewelry, I’ve found an awesome new Etsy shop full of accessories for fangirls! PeachesandPebbles Shop has a great selection, including hard-to-find fandoms like Totoro!

SO. FREAKING. CUTE!

I have made my love of peanut butter and chocolate no secret over the years. I’m seriously a little obsessed. So you can imagine my glee when I saw this tweet:

I have been waiting months, MONTHS for the new Reese’s cups to hit the stores. I mean, a Reese’s Cup filled with Reese’s Pieces?! I. COULD. NOT. WAIT. When I saw they were finally  out, this was my reaction:

My sister picked up a few at a local 7-11 and texted me the joyous news. I immediately went to her house and tried them out!

OMG, you guys. They looked like the Reese’s Cups we all know and love but they were better. Much, much better! With usual Reese’s Cups, the edges are hard and the peanut butter is a tad on the dry side. Not these, my friend. They were softer and the peanut butter was SUPER creamy! Suffice to say that if they take these off the market, I will protest! They. Are. DELISH!

Have you tried these? What did you think?

The past few months, I’ve been searching high and low for the products that are today’s Try It but I couldn’t find them ANYWHERE! Cut to me, my sister, and the kiddos at Dollar Tree yesterday (buying stuff for next week’s Try It) and finding these:

Eeeee! I was so excited! I had seen the Honey Nut at CVS, but that was it. And if I was going to try these, I wanted to try all three. First up, the Chili Nut!

chili

The Chili Nut M&M’s were all colored in different variations of red. I won’t lie; I sniffed them to see if I could smell the chili-ha! You can’t. I popped three in my mouth and was surprised–it tasted like regular peanut M&M’s. Disappointed, I reached for the next bag. That’s when, woooo!, I felt the chili! It wasn’t crazy-spicy, but they definitely have a kick to them!

Next was Honey Nut.

honey

These were, you guessed it, all variations of yellow. These were delish! I really liked them! They tasted like chocolate covered, honey roasted peanuts! Very tasty!

Finally, I tried the Coffee Nut. I’m a big coffee drinker and was really stoked about these!

coffee

These–surprise, surprise–brown M&M’s actually had an espresso smell to them. They. Were. Heavenly. I like coffee-flavored candy/chocolate so this was right up my alley!

If I had to choose a winner, though, I’d probably choose Honey Nut. I don’t buy candy that often (because, if I do, I’ll sit and eat the entire bag all at once and then be full of regret and chocolate) but I’d like this flavor to be available all the time for those moments that I want to sneak candy into the movies. Er, I mean…I don’t do that. *wink, wink*. After I tried them, I went to the M&M website and cast my vote for my favorite flavor!

Have you tried these? What did you think? Which was your favorite? Share in the comments below!

BEST. MONTH. EVER.

You guys. Today I found out some amazing news! Did you know that June is National Candy Month?!

IT IS!

candy month

I’ve already emailed Huff the Hubs to let him know I expect a different type of candy every single day for the rest of the month. I don’t think he’ll disappoint. While I wait for my Sour Patch Kids to arrive, I thought I’d share some interesting facts about some of my favorite confections!

Did you know that cotton candy was actually invented by a dentist?!

Cotton-candy

William James Morrison actually patented many food inventions. He developed a lard substitute, and even figured out a chemical process to purify the public drinking water in Nashville!

But his true claim to fame was his “electric candy machine” which he made “candy floss” (aka cotton candy) with! The product was brought to the public in 1904 and became a huge success. (As if something as heavenly as that would fail!)

The 3 Musketeers candy originally came divided into three pieces.

three musketeers

Each piece was a different flavor: vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. The candy was introduced by the Mars Company in 1932! Sadly, they don’t make it like that anymore. But they do have mint flavored and a crisp bar!

It’s better to eat a ton of candy at once than to spread it out!

ron-and-harry-eating-candy-harry-potter-movies-16643438-1280-720

Dentists have actually said it’s ok to eat up as much candy as you want at a time. The reason is this: say you eat 5 candy bars at once, your mouth will salivate more than if you eat one each hour for 5 hours. All that saliva will neutralize the harmful acids that corrode teeth. If you eat one each hour, there is more acid than saliva, which harms them. So dig in!

Everything in the scene of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when the children first see the factory is edible!

willy wonka

The director wanted to make the kids’ reactions to the set as realistic as possible, so he made sure the kids could truly eat everything! The chocolate river was real, the giant mushrooms were really filled with whipped cream and the trees had actual chocolate! The cup that Gene Wilder bites into at the end of the song was not edible, it was made of wax. After he spit it out after one take, they replaced it with one made from sugar.

Milton Hershey (aka, the chocolate pioneer) was supposed to be on the Titanic!

tumblr_m1h3awmDd61rqfhi2o1_500

Good thing for us–and Milton!– his wife got sick before they were to set sail on the Titanic. Thankfully, the Hersheys had to change their plans, or else they would’ve gone down with the luxury on April 15, 1912!

How are you going to celebrate National Candy Month? Got any good candy recipes?
