Try It Tuesday

Y’all know I love to try new products, and I have found two new ones I can’t wait to share with you! One is on the healthy side and the other? Wellll…. not so much. Whoops.First up, a new twist on spaghetti!

When my family and I tried the Body for Life program about 8 years ago, we switched all of our pasta from the starchy, white noodles to whole grain. And, honestly, we couldn’t tell a difference. So when I saw these noodles at the store, I was hopeful:

These non-GMO noodles are made with spinach, zucchini, broccoli, parsley, and kale–all GREAT for you greens! I was a little nervous that these noodles would have a distinctive taste…kale is basically spinach’s dirty, disgusting cousin after all. But I couldn’t even taste the greens! And actually, I was so caught up in enjoying my spaghetti, I forgot to take a pic of the cooked pasta!

My all-time favorite dessert is cheesecake. Because of this, whenever I see cheesecake-flavored anything I HAVE to try it! So when I spotted these at Walmart, they immediately went into the buggy!

These were… Okay. To me they were more white chocolate than cheesecake-y. I think I would have liked them better had there been some that had a graham cracker filling, just to break up the ultra-sweetness of the white chocolate flavor.

Try It Tuesday!

Y’all know I love trying new products–especially products that save me time as well as energy. Now that I’m working part time at a Mother’s Day Out program, I have to pack lunches for myself (as well as Huff the Tot) twice a week. Normally, I eat leftovers or Amy’s Organic meals when we’re at home, so making a lunch that’s portable has been a bit of a struggle. Especially when I don’t have easy access to a microwave and I pb&j’s only do so much for a breastfeeding momma’s hunger. While doing some grocery shopping, I came across some new products and thought I’d snag them for my lunch to see if they were any good!

First up, Hillshire Farms Snacking: Small Plates

img_9747

This little tray was DELISH! Its basically a Lunchable® for grownups! I didn’t realize there were other flavors and I can’t wait to try them all! I will say, the only place I’ve been able to find it locally is Target, but according to the HF website, they’re also available at Homeland stores! Woot!

For dessert the same day I had the snack tray, I pack some yogurt. I LOVE Chobani’s Flip yogurts, but they can’t count as a “dessert” at lunch if they’re 200+ calories (at least, for me that’s a tad too high). So I was SUPER excited when I saw that they now come in 100 calorie portions!

I tried the Strawberry Chocolate Truffle and man-oh-man, it was SO. FLIPPIN’. GOOD. I felt like I was indulging, but it was only 100 calories! HOLLA!

Y’all know I love trying new products, especially when they are healthy and make my life easier. So when I spotted these while grocery shopping, I HAD to try them!

I’ve always been a big fan of Jimmy Dean Delights products and was hopeful for these! After all, two of these frittatas pack 14g of protein, less than 300 calories, and are made with spinach and bacon!

All you had to do was pop them in the microwave for 1 minute 45 seconds and BAM! Breakfast is served.

I won’t lie, I was a tad disappointed. They had an odd, sweet taste to them that kind of ruined it for me. Huff the Hubs liked it okay, but said it probably wouldn’t be something he ate everyday. I think I’ll stick to my egg cups!

What about you? Have you tried these? What did you think? Share in the comments below!

As you know, I love trying new twists on old favorites. I’ve tried almost every flavor of Oreo that the company has come out with and I love trying new types of snack foods and recipes! Today I tried three different, new products that have just hit the market.

Happy Tuesday, peeps!

Every week, we have dinner over at my parent’s house. My mom was getting tired of the “same ole, same ole”, so she tried a new recipe! And guess what? Its today’s Try It Tuesday!

The dish was Spicy Cheesy Chicken Spaghetti. There’s a similar recipe on Pinterest! (My mom made the “healthier version” since we’re all trying to lose some pounds.)

Here’s what you need:

~1lb. 2% Velveeta

~1 pkg whole wheat spaghetti

~1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken cooked and cut up into pieces

~1 can Rotel

~1 can 98% Fat Free Cream of Chicken Soup

~1/3 cup milk

Preheat your oven to 350*. Cook the spaghetti as normal. Add your cooked chicken (Mom de-boned a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store. It worked great!) to a large bowl along with Velveeta, milk, soup, and Rotel. Microwave and stir until cheese is melted and all ingredients are thoroughly blended.

Next, throw the noodles into the bowl and mix well.

Then, pop it into a casserole dish and bake for 30-35 minutes and serve!

I liked this! I will say, though, that it was really rich. I think it would help if maybe some kidney beans or black beans were served on top or on the side. Or maybe even if it was topped with lettuce!

Have you ever tried this recipe before? Did you like it? Did you do anything differently?

Try It Tuesday

It’s fall, y’all! The temperatures are dropping (although in Oklahoma its felt like mid-summer today) and its time for some hoodies, scarves, and crock pot meals!

(I don’t know about you, but I LURVE my crock pot. I used to use it at least twice a week and not just in the fall and winter.)

I saw this on Pinterest and was super excited because 1. I already had everything to make it (meaning no need to go to the store) and 2. three words: Stove Top Stuffing.

original

Here’s what you need:

ingredients

~One box Stove Top Stuffing

~1 can Cream of Chicken soup

~1/2 cup sour cream

~3-4 chicken breasts (thawed)

~1/4 cup water

~a crockpot

First, place your thawed chicken breasts into your crockpot. Then, cover the chicken with the stuffing mix.

Stuffing in Crock Pot

Grab a medium-sized mixing bowl and pour in the soup, sour cream, and water. Mix well.

Soup Mixture

Pour the mixture on top of the stuffing mix in the crock pot. (Do NOT mix with the stuffing. Just pour the mixture on top.)

In Crock Pot

Then, cover and cook on low for four hours!

Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of the finished product. Why? Because this dish was so stinking good that by the time I thought about taking a picture, every bit of it was GONE! It was sooooooo good! I’m DEFINITELY making this again!
