Y’all, this parenting gig is tough. Everyday there’s a new study being shared by a person on Facebook who thinks they have all the answers (hint: NO ONE has the answers and if someone claims to have all the answers, they’re delusional and you should not listen to them) and says they know how you should raise your child. One area of parenting I see being discussed a lot is discipline.

Everybody has an opinion: spank, don’t spank, redirection, positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, redirection, loss of privileges, lax parenting, etc. Many times I have to hit the “hide post” button because my eyes hurt from all of the rolling they do.

But, thankfully, there is one place I can find a break from all of the debates and get some giggles: the YouTube channel, The BreakWomb! Check out their hilarious video discussing discipline techniques:

I’ve been off my game lately when it comes to blogging. And showering. And fixing my hair. And doing laundry. Why, you ask?

Kids.

Don’t get me wrong; I LOVE my kids. They are the reason I get up every day. (Literally. You can only pretend to be asleep for so long before your toddler knocks on the door, asking for chocolate milk.) But seriously, I love my kids with all my heart. They give me SO much joy! They also give me so many headaches. Because parenting is basically cleaning up after little dictators that push you super close to the edge of a cliff before swooping in and doing something so adorable that you forget all the crap they put you through. And then the next day it repeats.

To keep myself from going completely crazy, I like to read funny tweets from other parents to 1–let me know I’m not alone in this fight and 2–help me to laugh to keep from crying. I thought I’d share some of my favorites with you, because, I’m sure you need a giggle as well!

Anytime I get on Pinterest to find some sort of fitness pin, I see all kinds of workouts that are designed to help people get into shape while watching their favorite shows/movies. Like this one:

So I started thinking: “What if there was a workout like this but for moms?” I couldn’t find one, so I thought up a few exercises to help you mommas out there add some fitness to your day!

With things going crazy in the world and the election looming ever closer, I feel like we could all use some laughter in our lives, especially us overwhelmed, sleep-deprived Mommas! So work on some Kegels (I know how non-existent that post-partum bladder control is and I don’t want you peepin’ your pants!) and get ready to giggle!

A few weeks ago, Huff the Hubs and I made an agreement. Even though I’m the “default parent”, because he is going back to school and up to his ears in homework, I told him I would do everything that needed to be done around the house (and try to have a servant’s heart about it) if he would do the one chore I do not enjoy: bath time for the kids. He happily agreed. This gives me time to get a break from the kids and gives him time to bond with them. Its a win-win.

I won’t lie; I’ve been feeling pretty overwhelmed since we made this agreement. So much so that’s its been showing it physically (dizziness, shaky, light-headed, vertigo). But knowing that its only for a season makes it somewhat bearable.

So when I saw this video from the hilarious ladies over at The BreakWomb, I couldn’t help but chuckle and silently give a “Amen, sistahs.”

So to all you overwhelmed, overworked Mommas, turn up the volume and get ready to feel the solidarity:

Before I had kids, I loved hearing the hilarious things that would come out of my niece and nephews’ mouths. It reminded me of that show from late 80’s/early 90’s, Kid’s Say the Darndest Things. Remember that show? Bill Cosby would have a bunch of kids on stage and he’d ask them random questions and they’d say stuff like:

Kids Say the Darndest THings

(Preach, sistah.)

So once Huff the Tot started forming words together, I couldn’t wait to hear what she’d say. Mostly because I know she’s inherited her mother’s mouth and I knew I was in for a lot of payback after what I put my parents through. And let me tell you, that child has not disappointed. Here are a few gems from Huff the Tot:

*Driving past hospital*

HtT: Mommy, that’s the hos’pial. Let’s go put baby brudder back in your tummy.

Yeah, doesn’t work like that, kid.

*Huff the Babe cries in the other room*

HtT (over her shoulder as she walks by): Mommy, baby brudder’s cwying. He’s hungwy for your boobie.

What did you say

Maybe I shouldn’t have been so open about breastfeeding…

HtT: Mommy, I got a secwet.

Me: You’ve got a secret? Can you tell me?

HtT: Uh huh.

Me: Well, what is it?

HtT: *looks around, cups her mouth and whispers* Stars.

don't laugh gi

Oh those bright things in the sky? They’re a secret only Hermione knows about. And now me.

HtT: Mommy, where’s Daddy?

Me: He’s in the shower, sweetie.

HtT: Oh the shower? He a stinky. Stinky like a skunk.

trying not to laugh gi

Pretty much.

Me: *goes to get HtT out of bed* Good morning, sweetie! I love you!

HtT: *scowls* Mommy, your hair is CWAZY.

amused-looking-around

Gee, thanks.

Its been six weeks since I gave birth to Huff the Babe and I have been itchin’ to return to my workouts. I only have 10 pounds of the 30 I gained with Indy left to lose and I’m unbelievably ready for it to come of. However, since I’m nursing, my body is going to hold on to some fat stores making it dang near impossible to lose ANY weight.

But, I shall not fear! I know, in the meantime, I can work on strength training to build up muscle and endurance. But finding time for that? Now THAT’S dang near impossible.

Don’t believe me? This video perfectly sums up what its like to try and workout when kids are around:

Maybe I’ll get fit once the kids are away at college…
