Hey, Mommas! How ya doin’? Going a little crazy now that the kids have been home 24/7 for three months? Counting down the days until school starts? Don’t worry, you’re not the only one!
Check out this hilarious video the funny ladies from My Life Suckers and That’s Inappropriate put together showing the oh-so-familiar transition moms go through during the summer months!
As moms, we know that our work never stops. There’s always laundry to fold, dishes to wash, boo-boos to kiss, tantrums to soothe, and booties to wipe. Our “shift” is never over; its a 24/7/365. The oh-so-funny ladies at My Life Suckas knows what we’re talkin’ about. Just check out this parody of Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic— you’ll be feeling hashtag same, sistah.
Y’all, this parenting gig is tough. Everyday there’s a new study being shared by a person on Facebook who thinks they have all the answers (hint: NO ONE has the answers and if someone claims to have all the answers, they’re delusional and you should not listen to them) and says they know how you should raise your child. One area of parenting I see being discussed a lot is discipline.
Everybody has an opinion: spank, don’t spank, redirection, positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, redirection, loss of privileges, lax parenting, etc. Many times I have to hit the “hide post” button because my eyes hurt from all of the rolling they do.
But, thankfully, there is one place I can find a break from all of the debates and get some giggles: the YouTube channel, The BreakWomb! Check out their hilarious video discussing discipline techniques:
I’ve been off my game lately when it comes to blogging. And showering. And fixing my hair. And doing laundry. Why, you ask?
Don’t get me wrong; I LOVE my kids. They are the reason I get up every day. (Literally. You can only pretend to be asleep for so long before your toddler knocks on the door, asking for chocolate milk.) But seriously, I love my kids with all my heart. They give me SO much joy! They also give me so many headaches. Because parenting is basically cleaning up after little dictators that push you super close to the edge of a cliff before swooping in and doing something so adorable that you forget all the crap they put you through. And then the next day it repeats.
To keep myself from going completely crazy, I like to read funny tweets from other parents to 1–let me know I’m not alone in this fight and 2–help me to laugh to keep from crying. I thought I’d share some of my favorites with you, because, I’m sure you need a giggle as well!
Seen any funny parenting tweets? Send them to me on Twitter at @thehuffmanpost!
Anytime I get on Pinterest to find some sort of fitness pin, I see all kinds of workouts that are designed to help people get into shape while watching their favorite shows/movies. Like this one:
So I started thinking: “What if there was a workout like this but for moms?” I couldn’t find one, so I thought up a few exercises to help you mommas out there add some fitness to your day!
With things going crazy in the world and the election looming ever closer, I feel like we could all use some laughter in our lives, especially us overwhelmed, sleep-deprived Mommas! So work on some Kegels (I know how non-existent that post-partum bladder control is and I don’t want you peepin’ your pants!) and get ready to giggle!
Can you relate?
A few weeks ago, Huff the Hubs and I made an agreement. Even though I’m the “default parent”, because he is going back to school and up to his ears in homework, I told him I would do everything that needed to be done around the house (and try to have a servant’s heart about it) if he would do the one chore I do not enjoy: bath time for the kids. He happily agreed. This gives me time to get a break from the kids and gives him time to bond with them. Its a win-win.
I won’t lie; I’ve been feeling pretty overwhelmed since we made this agreement. So much so that’s its been showing it physically (dizziness, shaky, light-headed, vertigo). But knowing that its only for a season makes it somewhat bearable.
So when I saw this video from the hilarious ladies over at The BreakWomb, I couldn’t help but chuckle and silently give a “Amen, sistahs.”
So to all you overwhelmed, overworked Mommas, turn up the volume and get ready to feel the solidarity:
