Fan Girl Friday

Happy Friday (and happy New Year!) everyone!

I hope you’re ready for some awesomely nerdy finds! I can’t believe I haven’t done a Fan Girl Friday since LAST YEAR! (Cheap pun, but it had to be done.)

Have you seen The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug yet? I saw it a few weeks ago. It was…pretty good. Not as good as the first one, but still a must-see! If you go soon, you can keep comfy cozy in the cold weather with this awesome There and Back Again scarf:

One scarf to warm them all.

And speaking of The Hobbit, check out this LOTR-inspired dining room set from Geek Universe:

Huff the Hubs and I have been looking for a new bedspread. I wonder if I could convince him to indulge in this one? All I would need is a giant pencil-pillow!

All my best ideas come at night, now I can write them down!

The Doctor Who Christmas special aired a week and a half ago, but I didn’t get to watch it until this week. Not going to lie, it was a little hard to follow. And Capaldi’s regeneration? A little too quick for my taste. BUT, I’ll keep watching. And Maybe even nuzzle up with one of these plush pillows from BohoBear:

Sleep with visions of Time Lords dancing in your head.

Did anyone get video games for Christmas? I didn’t buy any for HtH this year because he still has some from TWO years ago that still have the plastic on them. Seriously. I’m afraid he’ll be a hoarder if I continue to buy him video games. Kind of like this guy. He’s got the largest collection of video games: 10,607 games and over different 100 consoles!

Happy Friday, Earthlings!

This morning I was woken up by the Great God of Thunder, Thor himself. My windows were rattling and rain pounded against the apartment. This was all at 4:30 a..m. I’m assuming the hammer-wielding son of Odon was just passing through, but I was unable to go back to bed. I contemplated not doing a blog today but I know millions dozens of you would be heartbroken if I didn’t post. So, here I am!

Is anyone else on Sherlock countdown?! I. CANNOT. WAIT for season 3! Rumor is, the show will debut first this fall in the UK and probably January-ish 2014 for us in ‘Merica. To satiate your need for all things Benedict Cumberbatch/Holmes, check out this awesome video of BC reading a little of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s awsomeness:

We have SO many movies/TV shows to look forward to this fall and winter! Including the next Hobbit movie! If you just can’t wait and need to have your fill of something Hobbit-related {whilst improving your spelling abilities} check out this bad boy from Think Geek!

Scrabble, Shire-style.

It also comes with “adventure cards” to shake up the game play! Its like Catan meets Scrabble!

If you know me/have spent five minutes around me, you know I hate noise. Some say I’m just a crabby patty, others say I suffer from Misophonia. I say I just don’t have the patience to deal with your loud voice/annoying noise-related quirks. Evidently I’m in a world of hurt when the baby gets here. (Did you know they cry? Like, all the time?!) So when I saw this pacifier from TG, I rejoiced! I think I may get one for Hermione. I wonder if it really works…..?

Just don't turn it to 11.

Just don’t turn it to 11.

And speaking of my soon-to-arrive-spawn… Sigh. It seems a day can’t go by without people getting all judgy/having something to say about the fact that we’re naming our daughter Hermione or that we’re doing her nursery in Star WarsThe reaction I hate the most is: “Star Wars? For a girl?” Bah. That makes me want to choke them with The Force and drop them on Hoth for a wampa to deal with. But this week, while perusing Pinterest, I found this awesome video. Which, made me even more proud of the decisions Huff the Hubs and I are making in regards to our little one, but it also made me tear up a little. My favorite quote? “Don’t tell my daughters that Legos, robots, and superheroes are just for boys.”

Happy Friday, peeps!

Today, Huff the Hubs started his furloughs so he helped me pick out all the awesomely nerdy finds for today! And let me tell you, he found A LOT! I guess this is one of the perks to getting an extra day off a week!

Summer is the time for weddings (I’ve already received about 250,000 invites for this summer alone!). Sometimes, when you go to one wedding, they seem like all the others. But not this one! Check out this comic-book/super hero themed wedding!

Holy nerdy wedding, Batman!

I especially love how they did the seating for the reception! I’d like to sit at the Harley Quinn & Joker table!

This next find was HtH’s FAVORITE. Its no secret that the man loves Legos, and when he saw this he was almost tempted to hide the Tardis Cookie Jar we use to keep our spatulas in just so we could order this from Apartment Therapy:

Just don't step on one of the pieces!

This summer, I’ve been doing a lot of lounging by the pool or in the hammock at my dad’s Tiki Hut. I’ve been desperate for a good summer read and since I’ve had The Maze Runner from my sister for over a month and only read to Chapter Four… I think it may be time to switch it up. Thankfully, one of my favorite authors from my teen years just released a new book! Geek squee:

This cover gives me GOOSEBUMPS. Get it?

I’ve been reading mixed reviews about it. But that won’t stop me from the nostalgia of sitting outside reading R.L. Stine!

My niece and nephews (who just left from their visit here in OK…tear…) absolutely LOVE Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I mean they are bordering on the obsessive their love is so intense. So I think for Christmas, Aunt Jessie may have to order these for them from Think Geek:

Cowabunga, dude!

Finally, if you haven’t made any summer travel plans, I’ve got the trip for you! Check out this AMAZING Hobbit-themed motel in New Zealand! Isn’t it adorable?! I just hope that they serve food as often as Hobbits eat!
