Mommy Monday



Guys. I know I’ve blogged about this before but OMG…my Pregnancy Brain is back. And not only that, its being mixed with a whole lotta Mom Brain as well. So when I saw this new parody from The Holderness Family, it spoke to my soul.



No lie, I poured coffee creamer in my mug the other morning and then put it up IN THE CABINET. Not the fridge where it belongs. The cabinet.

Imma go take a nap now.

Try It Tuesday

Today I was going to try some kind of tasty treat but I’ve been stress-eating like crazy because of this ridiculous election season so I figured I’d try something that would actually make me feel better instead of filling me with self-loathing and calories. That’s why I thought I’d try this out today:


According to the Headspace website, their mission is:

At Headspace we believe there is nothing more important than looking after the health of the mind, so we’ve made it our mission to get people everywhere to look after this precious resource by sitting to meditate for a few minutes a day, everyday. 


I’m not one for meditating–a part of me kind of associates it with New Age hokum–but I thought I would try it out. I mean, I’m a momma of two kids–I could use some peace and a way to reverse “Mommy Brain“.

The app it pretty user friendly and instructs you to find a quiet place that you can guarantee you’ll be left alone for about 10-20 minutes. I chose to do my 10-minute guided meditation during nap time.



Honestly…I couldn’t really get into it. I found the narrator’s voice a tad annoying and I couldn’t really focus. I found it much easier to just listen to classical music and focus on my breathing for about 5-10 minutes. THAT actually helped!

I’m not discounting Headspace; it may be really helpful for others. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. I did think it was interesting, though, that they had meditations for kids!



For parents looking for non-medicinal/traditional ways to help their kiddos be able to focus, I think it might be a useful tool!

Got a Case of the Mondays

Am I the only one who just can’t seem to get it together today?

My morning was thrown off with a new email system (that I loathe) so everything was topsy-turvy. I couldn’t find my old files, I couldn’t remember what I was doing, and I’d walk in to a room and forget why I was there. I thought maybe it was because I was tired, so I chugged some Diet Coke. Didn’t help.

I know I joke and call it “Mommy Brain”, but this mommy needs some help!

Thankfully, the internet is here and prepared.

I found an awesome site called Lumosity. It has several games and challenges that are proven to help with recall, attention-span, and improve your ability to move from task to task. There’s even a lesson you can do that will help you remember faces and names! That will cut down on those awkward run-ins with people that leave you thinking, “Who was I just talking to?”


All you have to do is sign in and create a profile. You’ll be asked a series of questions about the areas you want to work on:

Then, you’ll be given your profile as well be administered a Fit Test to see where you are:

Its actually really cool! I’m hoping that, by doing this everyday, I’ll boost my memory power. I would LOVE to cut down on the amount of times a day I look like this:

Try It Wednesday

Its Hump Day, folks! What better way to get out of the mid-week slump than with an awesome Try It? (Totally supposed to be yesterday’s post, but I’ve got Mommy-Brain and forgot).

Anyway, I saw this on Pinterest and thought it would be a great way to still be able to snack but also be able to eat healthy:

Zucchini Fries!

This recipe is super simple. I mean, its so easy, Hermione could probably do it! Okay, maybe not that easy, but still, not that difficult.


All you need is:

2 zucchini, thinly sliced long-ways

2 egg whites

¼ cup grated parmesan cheese


First, I washed and sliced my zucchini:

Then, I dipped them in the egg whites and sprinkled them with parmesan cheese:




I baked them for about 30 minutes and let them cool.

After they were cool enough to touch without burning my fingers off, I tried them.

Umm… yeeeahhh…I think I may have sliced them too thin. Or baked them too long. But, whatever the case may have been they looked like this:

If I try to make these again, I’ll DEFINITELY have to make some adjustments. Has anyone else ever tried these before? What did you think?
