Fan Girl Friday!

Happy Friday, y’all!

Today has been a CRAZY day! Huff the Hubs got his wisdom teeth pulled this morning and I’ve been taking care of him while also scouring the internet for awesomely nerdy nifties for YOU! (I’ve also been researching how much it will cost us to move because I saw a mouse in our kitchen this morning and I do NOT want to live here anymore!)

Remember how awesome it was when Johnny Depp was the Madhatter in Alice in Wonderland? And how we all wished we could see him reprise his role? Well pine no longer, lovelies! Our wishes have come true! The sequel to Alice in WonderlandAlice Through The Looking Glass, is set to hit theaters next May! AND, its awesome trailer (complete with Alan Rickman voice over) is out!

And speaking of deep-voiced Brits, have y’all seen the  latest trailer for Sherlock‘s Christmas special?! NO?! Well, here it is!

Sidebar: When I see Holmes and Watson dressed like that, all I can think of is The Great Mouse Detective, ha ha!

Sadly, I don’t have a trailer for this last find, BUT I do have pictures and insider info! The latest film from the wizarding world of JK Rowling, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, officially has a logo AND a plot!

Fan Girl Friday Fantastic Beasts Eddie

The film, starring Eddie Redmayne, will be full of the magical world we all know and love, but with some twists. According to Entertainment Weekly:

“Eccentric magizoologist Newt Scamander comes to New York (for a reason we won’t disclose) with his trusty weathered case. This case is one of those way-way-way-bigger-on-the-inside magical devices, and within are expansive habitats for a collection of rare and endangered magical creatures from Newt’s travels around globe. He discovers the American wizarding community is fearfully hiding from Muggles (who are called “No-Maj” in the States) and the threat of public exposure is an even graver concern than in the UK (remember the Salem witch trials?). Fantastic Beasts is the story of what happens when this uniquely skilled English wizard travels to wiz-phobic America and a variety of his creatures, some quite dangerous … get out of their case.”

SQEEEEE!!!!! I. CANNOT. WAIT.

Get ready to squeal with delight, fanboys and fangirls! I’ve got movie, book, and fandom news GALORE! Let’s jump right in, shall we?

I belong to many fandoms. But the two that take up the most space in my heart are lightning bolt-shaped and Tardis-shaped. So when I read this article, my little HPWhovian soul could barely take it!

The spin-off to the beloved HP series, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them may have finally found their leading man in none other than the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith!

"Do I hear a Crumpled Horn Snorkack?!"

“Do I hear a Crumpled Horn Snorkack?!”

Yep, we could see the fezzed timelord as wizard naturalist Newt Scamander! Fingers crossed!

And speaking of the wizarding world, check out what a bunch of BYU students did over there spring break!

“Fill my goblet, put some fire in it!”

When I was growing up, Nickelodeon had some AWESOME shows: Rocko’s Modern Life, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, and of course, Clarissa Explains it All. I miss those shows. The line-up on Nickelodeon these days is–how do I saw this diplomatically?–crap. I feel so sad that I don’t know what happened to my favorite characters as they grew up because iCarly took their place.

clarissa

But, thanks to Clarissa creator, Mitchell Kriegman, I can dry my eyes. A new book chronicling the life of Clarissa Darling as she becomes a young adult is about to hit the shelves! The novel, titled Things I Can’t Explain, starts around Clarissa’s 20th birthday and, according to Kriegman, will have our heroine dealing with “new issues that are pretty unexplainable.” The book hits stores this November! EEEEEEEE!!!

The Walking Dead season finale is this Sunday! And, from the sound of it, I think we need to keep the hankies handy. The producers of the show have been hinting at “big losses” to the main cast for quite some time now. (*Spoiler Alert*!) Fans of the graphic novel know that our sweet Glenn met his demise not too long ago, and I’m afraid that we will be saying goodbye to Stephen Yeun this weekend.

On the bright side, the spin-off series to TWD finally has a title: Fear The Walking Dead. Not too original, but at least fans will know what to look for in the TV Guide!

Excited about any of the movie/TV news? Know any? Tell me in the comments below!

Happy Friday, all!

I’ve found some squee-worthy finds this week, so let’s jump right in!

A certain movie came out last weekend about a shoe-losin’ Disney princess. We all know she lived happily ever after, but did you know she has mad rap skillz, yo? Check out Sara Michelle Gellar as Cinderella in this epic princess rap battle!

Ever since Mockingjay: Part One was released on DVD, I have been ITCHING for trailers/info/pictures for MJP2. And even though this teaser gives NOTHING away, it still gave me chills! I dare you to not get goosebumps!

You guys. Remember how movies were made about things from our childhood and most of them were total crap? Well fear no more, children of the 80’s! Someone’s got our back for a MAJOR project about to hit the Henson Company!

jgl

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to star in and produce a live-action Fraggle Rock movie! Cue the Kermit arm flails! According to Variety, the reason JGL wants to make this movie (which has been in the works for nearly a decade) is because he’s a HUGE Henson fan! Fraggle Rock: “The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on ‘Sesame Street,’ and then on ‘Fraggle Rock,’” Gordon-Levitt said. “Jim Henson’s characters make you laugh and sing, but they’re also layered, surprising, and wise. From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I’ve never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood…I’m grateful and excited to be working with New Regency on this project.”

Today is the first day of spring, and you know what that means: your Facebook newsfeed is about to be blowing up with people doing marathons, 5K’s, and crazy zombie runs! And I’ll be one of them! I just signed up for my first color run and I am so excited! Maybe I need to get me one of these fandom workout shirts to train in…?

Iiiiits Friday!

I’ve spent the majority of the day carbing up for my marathon on Sunday. And let me tell ya…eating is F-U-N! I think I’m going to list it as one of my favorite hobbies on Facebook after today.

I’ve got gobs of geekery to share with you so let’s dive right in!

First, man-oh-man is there a plethora of movie news out about some highly-anticipated films!

We all know Henry Cavill is Superman and Ben Affleck with be donning the cowl in Zac Snyder’s Superman vs. Batman but it looks as though there’s a third party being thrown into the ring! That would be Cyborg–a character first introduced in the comic book back in 1980–who, after a tragic accident, becomes a mechanized superhero! Fun fact: the actor playing Cyborg has also been rumored to be in the next installment of the Star Wars films!

Where my 80’s girls at? get ready to squeal with joy, because  Jem and the Holograms are reuniting! EEEEEEEE! That’s right people, our favorite Hubba Bubba-hued rockstar is making it to the big screen with a live-action movie titled–what else?–Jem and the Holograms!

jem

If the leading lady looks familiar, its probably because you’ve seen her in such gems (pun TOTES intended) as Sharknado and Ace Venture, Pet Detective Jr. Yes. You read that right.

I am counting down the days until the final Hobbit movie makes its debut. However, I may have to re-do the screen print t-shirts I’ve made because P.J. (AKA, Peter Jackson) has decided to change the title from The Hobbit: There and Back Again, to The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Yeah. I’m serious.

There’s been a tiny, Daryl-Dixon-shaped hole left in my heart since the season finale of The Walking Dead. And its going to be AT LEAST 6 months until I get to see my favorite crossbow-wielding bad boy crack some zombie skulls. But maybe I can find solace with one of these, and snuggle up to it every night while singing Soft Kitty…

Claimed.

Claimed.

As I’ve said (about a gazillion times) I’m running a marathon this Sunday! My first (and ONLY) marathon. I’ve got everything I need: GU, running shoes, trashbag poncho in case it rains, but I’m missing something else. What am I missing? Earbuds shaped like my spirit animal: Grumpy Cat. Thankfully, Hot Topic is there for me in my hour of need:

I hate running.

I hate running.

Have a great weekend, peeps! And keep your fingers crossed the marathon isn’t a washout!
