Fan Girl Friday New Background3

My little cousin is getting married this weekend, so I’ve had weddings on the brain for the last week or so. And, with it being summer and the season of weddings, I thought I would feature some awesome Etsy shops that carry everything and bride and groom would need for their nerdy nuptials!

Need a Save the Date that shows your love for comic books as well as your groom? Awkward Affections has what you need!

Comic Book Wedding Invite

Or maybe you’re looking for something a little more retro, like these invitations from The Inked Leaf:

Nintendo Wedding Invites

You’ll absolutely need something geeky to throw back the champagne! Glass Cannons has the goblets for you!

Frankenstein and Bride Topper

Splendorlocity has cake toppers for couples that are “out of this world”:

I have been so off my blogging game this week! But not to worry, my faithful followers, I’ve got some nerdy novelties that are sure to perk you right up!

I don’t really dress up that much. In fact, my idea of “dressing” up is switching out sweat pants for a pair of week-old dirty jeans and a t-shirt. But after seeing this skirt, I may rethink my style!

lightsaber skirt

This awesome skirt from Her Universe is the PERFECT pick for any lightsaber-lovin’ lady that’s ready for a night out at the cantina with her scruffy-looking nerf herder!

And speaking of our favorite galaxy far, far away, show your nerd side with this tee from Fun Sports Gear!

Jedi Mom

Jedi moms really are much cooler than normal moms. Plus, we carry lightsabers and know how to handle bounty hunters.

I’m not much of a gamer. Well, I take that back. I can play Super Mario Brothers with the best of them! What better way to show my Nintendo pride than with this raglan tee from Think Geek?

adventure tee

This tee is actually a TG exclusive! The sleeves are decorated with question boxes, Mario-esque clouds and Nintendo controllers! What more could a plumber-lovin’ 80’s girl need?

They say a woman is the “queen of her castle”, now we can actually feel like it with this apron from Perpetual Kid!

Elsa apron

How cute would you look stirring spaghetti sauce in this little number? Plus, if your family doesn’t like what you’ve cooked, you can always just tell them to “let it go”.

Happy fangirling!

It’s finally here, y’all—Friday is back to grace us with its beautiful presence! Holla! And to commemorate this blessed occasion, I’ve collected all kinds of geeky goodies for your pleasure!

Need to protect your belongings? Look no further than this exclusive from Think Geek!

Captain America Backpack

This Captain America-inspire backpack is great for holding all of your stuff that you don’t want falling into Hydra’s hands!

If you’re like Huff the Hubs, you enjoy birthday cards…for about ten seconds. He finds them kind of pointless because they “don’t serve a purpose”. But I think if he received one of these he’d LOVE cards!

DIY Cards

Each wooden card comes with pieces to pop out and construct! The cards come in three different robot shapes!

I am really looking forward to summer. I’m about sick and tired of the May rains we’re experiencing in Oklahoma. I also love food. So this next find warms my heart:

pizza slice pool float

Lounge whilst dreaming of tasty pizza! Best of both worlds, baby!

When I was a kid, I was obsessed with Troll dolls. Seriously. I had a collection! (Wow, I was weird kid…) That’s why I need about ten pairs of these adorkable shoes from ModCloth:

troll flats

Trollies may come from acorns, but these shoes are from the nerdy heavens!

Get ready, people, because I’m about to drop some nerd news that’s going to make you flip! Nintendo announced this week that it will be working with Universal Studios to bring the world of Mario to its theme parks!

nintendo theme park

That’s right, people! In a matter of months you could be racing on Rainbow Road or searching for Zelda alongside Link at Universal Studios in Orlando! Its still up in the air what the final plans are/where the Nintendo area of Universal will be, but, rumor is they’ll be taking up the area that formerly held Marvel’s superheroes (because Marvel was bought by Disney, Wolverine and his pals will probably be high-tailing it Cinderlla’s castle soon). Get excited! (Note: the link to the story has NSFW language!)

Writer Wednesday

Here’s today’s writing prompt:

What was your favorite Christmas present you received as a child?

Christmas 1990 (at least, I think it was 1990) was a GREAT Christmas. I was still on the side of the fence that somewhat believed Santa was real. I mean, there was a big part of me that thought my parents were the ones that filled up our stockings {we’re the ‘cheaters’ that open presents on Christmas Eve; I knew Santa didn’t bring those} but I also figured that my parents left stockings to the Fat Man in Red because they had had enough of shopping and wrapping gifts.

Anyway, Christmas morning 199something, my sisters and I woke up at our normal 3:00 a.m. “Let’s-go-see-what’s-in-our-stockings” to find the most glorious gift waiting for us. I’m talking the Holy Grail for all ’90’s kids: a Nintendo. A freaking NES was waiting in all of its monochromatic beauty.

nintendo

I’m pretty sure our squeals were so high-pitched that windows broke. We FLIPPED out! We could not believe that we were looking at our very own Nintendo! I can’t remember all of the games we had, but I know we played the crap out of Super Mario Brothers, Duck Hunt, Super Mario Brothers 3, The Little Mermaid, Yoshi, and Dr. Mario. We loved that game system. It probably paid for itself within the first month of us receiving it. When we got older, we didn’t play games on it that often. But I will never forget how excited we were with our “latest and greatest technology”.

(Fun fact: When we went back to school after the break, my sister Bridget was being teased because she said that Santa had outdone himself this year. “Santa’s not real, Bridget!” a kid yelled at her.

“Oh yes he is!” she snapped back.

“How do you know?”

“Because my parents can’t afford a Nintendo and there was one under our tree on Christmas!” she explained.

You just got PWNED, kid.)

Try It Tuesday

Happy Tuesday, folks!

While looking around on Pinterest (mostly on Doctor Who-themed boards) I found an awesome pin! Apparently, you go to this website and you’re in the Tardis’ control room! You can click different areas and it will “teleport” you to a random place.

tardis teleporter

So I went to the website and was a little disappointed. I mean, the views were amazing, don’t get me wrong.

Teleporter Japan

But, when I first went to the site, there was no Tardis control room (super sad about that!). And, honestly, its like a glorified Google Maps. So, double sad. But, like I said, it was nice to get to see some of the pretty views!

Recently, Huff the Hubs has really been into playing video games on my old NES. Last Friday he spent about two hours trying to beat Super Mario Brothers. While on Pinterest, I saw this and did a nerd girl squeal:

snesfun

THIS website did NOT disappoint! There were tons and tons of video games! I chose a game that I never played as a kid but always wanted to:

snes animaniacs opening panel

I was actually pretty cool! And really got me all nostalgic. I mean, check out those awesome 90’s graphics:

I think I’ve found my new procrastination website. Look out, Pinterest, another site’s gunning for your crown!

Happy Friday, kids!

If you’re one of the lucky 200,000 attendees at Comic Con today, I envy you. Even though you’re probably in a crowded room with people who haven’t showered in days, your afternoon will be filled with panels, free swag, and waiting in line for hours on end.

If you’re like me and sitting at home wishing you were able to sit in the same room as Chris Hemsworth Thor, we can cry on each other’s shoulders…OR we can look at all the awesomely geeky things I’ve found on the interwebs today!

Yes, let’s do that. We don’t want our mascara to run.

In Oklahoma, we don’t have beaches (well, I guess we do at the lake…but I don’t go to the lake; I don’t like swimming in places that aren’t infused with chlorine) but we sure do have swimming pools! And with the heat that’s cranking up over the south and east, we could use a dip in our cement ponds.

What better way to dry yourself off from an afternoon of Marco Polo than with this beach towel from Think Geek:

Remember the days of pouring your bucket of Legos on the living room floor and building an entire city? Perhaps you named it Jessie-opolis or Jessville. No? Just me? Moving on… then remember how your siblings would come through and trash your city. You’d sit in the corner and cry until you heard the piercing scream of someone stepping on a lone Lego. Ah, sweet justice. You don’t have to worry about hurting your Hobbit feet with these bricks, though:

Lego fun without the foot-crushing pain.

Miss the days of NES before things got fancy? Me too. We can relive our childhood as we pour our morning cup of Joe and lament the fact that now we’re adults with things like jobs and mortgages with this awesome Tetris mug:

Fill your mug to the brim, but don’t let the cubes get too high!

And finally, if you’re in need of geeky gear, look no further than Elf Sacks! Check out all of these nerdy accessories:

Fan Girl Friday

Hello my fellow fan girls (and boys)!

I found so many awesome fandom worthy finds it was hard to narrow them down! So get ready for greatness, peeps!

First up, check out this dresser from Ikea Hackers!

Pretty sure this is Hawkeye's dresser.

Pretty sure this is Hawkeye’s dresser.

The folks over at IH take kits from Ikea and then make them into their own creations! Pretty cool, huh? (Although, I think its kind of cheating to use the Swede’s design…why not just do something original?)

Just a head’s up: Mother’s Day is right around the corner. For those of you not sure what to get the geek mom in your life, I suggest this:

Oh Link, you shouldn't have!

Oh Link, you shouldn’t have!

Isn’t that adorable?! The clever mind over at Ohmygeekness on Etsy also has Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt rings, as well as earrings! So adorbs!

Now that we’re all moved in to our new two-bedroom apartment, Huff the Hubs and I can start buying things for our little Hermione. First up? THIS:

I'm Batman.

I’m Batman.

How cool is this carseat?! Totally blows all other seats out of the water! The people at Gizmodo never cease to amaze me.

Did anyone catch the midnight screening of Iron Man 3 last night?! I heard its AWESOME. I also heard that there’s a scene where someone is watching Downton Abbey. Favreau just got major geek points for that clever move. If you haven’t gone yet, you should head over to Think Geek, so you can rock this shirt, Stark style:

Billionaire, genius, playboy, philanthropist.

Billionaire, genius, playboy, philanthropist.

And it actually lights up! How awesome is that?!

And last, but certainly not least, surely you must know what tomorrow is…May 4th. As in Star Wars Day! Woot woot! I plan on kickin’ back with a couple of cold ROOT beers, and seeing if my pops can build one of these bad boys:

"That's no grill."

“That’s no grill.”

How cool would it be to have this in your backyard? Can’t you just see it now: sitting around your patio cantina, watching the padawans play, while Chewy tries to repair a droid? Ahh…that’s the life.

Have a great weekend, kids. And May the fourth be with you!
