Try It Tuesday

Hey y’all! Today I have two Try Its for you! One is so not healthy and the other is a great way to hit your macros and feel like you’re indulging when you’re really not!

Remember when Oreo had the mystery flavor and it was disgusting? Yeah, me too. Well they have officially redeemed themselves because they have a new special edition flavor out–kettle corn!

I REALLY like this flavor! It truly tastes like kettle corn! I seriously couldn’t get enough of these and had to restrain myself from eating the whole package because they were THAT good! Kettle corn is just one of three flavors the cookie giant has released this spring! They also have piña colada and cherry cola!

While grocery shopping a week or so ago, I looked for something that would satisfy my sweet tooth but also had protein and not a lot of calories (I was trying to be good since I knew I was going to pig out for Mother’s Day weekend, lol). My search led me to this:

One package of Think Thin’s protein cakes touts 12 grams of protein and only 170 calories! I was ready to try these! The other day after the kiddos had gone to bed, I decided to dig in.

They were actually pretty good! They definitely had that “protein bar taste” but they did satisfy that craving for something sweet and helped me hit my protein goals for the day! They also come in chocolate cake and red velvet!

Y’all know I’m all about the new products–ESPECIALLY when Oreo comes out with a new flavor of their classic cookies! Today I’ve got a two-for-one Try It with a healthy item and a not-so-healthy item!

First up, new Popped Salted Caramel Bites from Kind! I love this company’s snack bars, so when I saw this at the store, I was super excited to try it! These little bites are packed with whole grains: oats, buckwheat, millet, amaranth, quinoa, and popped sorghum as well as yummy popcorn, caramel, and sea salt!

At only 110 calories, this yummy treat is exactly what I’ve been looking for! Its salty, its sweet–its great! Two thumbs WAAAAYYYY up!

Up next, the newest flavor of Oreo: Dunkin Donuts Mocha middles Oreo!

Y’all. OH. EM. GEEEEEE! These things were SO tasty! Oreos are basically delicious no matter what flavor (except that whole watermelon phase–bleck!) I love coffee and coffee-flavored stuff, so I thought these were DELISH! I really want to try it swirled in a cup of cappuccino-flavored ice cream! Mmm….

As you know, I love trying new twists on old favorites. I’ve tried almost every flavor of Oreo that the company has come out with and I love trying new types of snack foods and recipes! Today I tried three different, new products that have just hit the market.

Try It Tuesday

Tomorrow is the first day of October and fall is in full swing, peeps! And you know what that means: pumpkin flavored novelties are EVERYWHERE! Including my favorite cookies: Oreo.

You know my love for the O-R-E-O is deep. Whenever there is a new flavor, I HAVE to try it. Enter: today’s Try It. And–surprise!–its a twofer!

I LOVE caramel apples. There’s an AWESOME candy shop that has the most amazing caramel apples. However, those things are loaded with crazy amounts of calories and sugar. So when I saw these at Wally World, I was amped up!

This flavor was pretty good! It was a tad on the “too sweet” side, but I still liked it! My sister, however, took one bite and spit it out. She said it tasted like a Jolly Rancher.

This next one was AH-MAY-ZING!

This flavor was basically like biting into fall, if fall were a cream-filled cookie. A word of caution, though: I drank a glass of milk with this one and it totally ruined the flavor. But, then I tried it with a cup of coffee and it was the PERFECT pairing!

Oreo, you’ve done it again my friend.

Happy Tuesday!

We are no win the home stretch in the countdown to Christmas! Its only 15 days away! That’s just a little over two weeks! TWO. WEEKS. Got your shopping done yet? Your menus planned? No? Well then, its a good thing I’ve got a tasty treat for you to try!

Oh. My. OREO.

Oh. My. OREO.

This yummy dessert has only THREE ingredients: Oreos, butter, and marshmallows. Three of the main holiday food groups (in my opinion).

You’ll need one package of Oreos, 4 tablespoons butter, and 5 cups marshmallows (not the minis; the bigger ones). I got the holiday Oreos–you know, the red centered ones–not the originals. Anyway, after you gather your ingredients, you’ll need to get out the food processor and chop up the package of Oreos.

Mmm...

Mmm…

I seriously wanted to just pour in some milk and eat this like cereal! Doesn’t it look just DELICIOUS?! But I digress…moving on!

After that, I poured the marshmallows and butter into a microwave-safe bowl.

Oooh yeaahh!

Oooh yeaahh!

I put the mallows and butter in the microwave for about a minute.

Marshmallow-y goodness!

Marshmallow-y goodness!

I also wanted to eat this with a spoon…drool….

Then, I put the chopped up Oreos in the marshmallow mixture and stirred.

Again with the blurriness. Oi.

Again with the blurriness. Oi.

Then, I poured it all into a pan. Unfortunately, the only pan that was clean was one that would’ve made the bars way too thin. So I ended up doing this:

Looks disgusting. But its not!

Looks disgusting. But its not!

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “That looks like raw meat!” Yeah. I know. It looks pretty janky. I was hoping it’d look more festive, seeing as how they were holiday Oreos. But even though they look nasty, they’re actually REALLY good! My advice? Use regular Oreos. Also, don’t grind the Oreos down to a fine powder. Process them until there are still some chunks in there. That’ll make the bars have a better consistency.

Try It Tuesday

Happy Tuesday, people!

If you’re still in need of some dessert ideas, have I got one for you!

Today’s Try It is PERFECT for Thanksgiving. Its delicious, decadent, AND already in single-serve portions (so you don’t indulge too much).

My sister, Bridget, found this pin on Pinterest:

Two of my favorite things: Oreo and cheesecake.

Two of my favorite things: Oreo and cheesecake.

First, she gathered her ingredients:

This is all you need!

This is all you need!

That’s right! All she needed was a pack of Oreos and a Jello-O No Bake Cheesecake.

First, she lined her cupcake tin with cupcake cups. Then, she placed Oreos in each one:

O-R-E-O-S.

O-R-E-O-S.

Then, she mixed up the cheesecake:

Mmm...cheesecake.

Mmm…cheesecake.

Then, she poured the cheesecake mixture over the cookies:

Ooooh yeaaahh...

Ooooh yeaaahh…

To add a little pizzazz, she ground up some Oreos in the food processor and sprinkled them on top:

Best. Garnish. Ever.

Best. Garnish. Ever.

Ta da!

Ta da!

OMG, you guys, this was So. Freaking. Good. I may  have eaten two. Okay, three. Okay, three and a half. Seriously guys, this is one of the simplest, tastiest desserts I’ve ever had!

Try It Tuesday

Hello everyone!

Sorry there was no post yesterday. Between twisting my ankle going down the stairs before work, seeing the tragedy in Boston, and coming home to a migraine-suffering husband, I was in no mood to blog.

However, today’s “Try It” is absolutely what the doctor ordered. And when I say doctor, I mean me!

There’s a yummy treat floating around the Pinterest-sphere and I’ve been wanting to taste it. So, me, Mom, and BB tried it out!

Here’s what you need:

~cookie dough

~brownie mix

~Oreos

~muffin tin

~an oven

~salivary glands

No pictured: salivary glands.

First step: spray a little Pam in the muffin tin and press the cookie dough in the tin:

You can always just eat the raw dough. Unless you're pregnant. Womp, womp.

Next, drop Oreos in the tin:

Dad almost ate all the Oreos. Tricksy Hobbit.

Then, pour in the brownie batter:

Nom, nom, nom.

Nom, nom, nom.

Put the tin in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes. Then, you’ll have this:

I'm not going to lie. I ate it in two bites.

Guys. This “Try It” was a total success. I’m talking unicorns and rainbows with dancing ponies success! The tastiest thing I’ve tried since starting this blog!
