Fan Girl Friday

Its Friday, peeps! And we are in the homestretch in the countdown to Christmas. The big day is in less than TWO weeks! TWO WEEKS!

Do you have your shopping done? No?!

Well, have no fear! I am here to help you find the perfect gift for that special someone on your list!

For the Teacher:

Crayon Cologne. Doesn’t every teacher just love the smells of school? Freshly sharpened pencils, sweaty kids piling in from recess, and ah yes, broken Crayolas!

crayon perfume

This eau de school supplies is only $19.99 from Perpetual Kid! And if this scent doesn’t tickle your fancy, there’s others! Lobster, graham crackers, birthday cake, and popcorn just to name a few!

For the Hostess:

Party Plates! Also from PK, these plates are perfect for the friend in your life that just won’t stop throwing parties! “Wanna come celebrate my cat’s bar mitzvah? There’ll be food!”

The plates come in a variety of colors and sets of 5! They’re perfect for stabilizing food and drink (and it even has a separate area to put moist foods for any OCD party-goers!)

For the Whovian:

Sonic salad forks (and spoons and knives)!

DW cutlery

These awesome cutlery sets from Think Geek would be a great addition to your Whovian pal’s table setting! They’re great for digging into fish fingers and custard!

I’ll have more gift ideas next week, but I’ll end on some movie news! JJ Abrams has FINALLY released the names of his characters (besides the obvious) for Star Wars Episode 7!

star wars names

Here are the names of some of the main characters:

What do you think? Like the names? I have to admit, I’m a little disappointed. Rey and Finn aren’t that..”sci-fi-ish” I was hoping for something along the lines of Lando or Ackbar.

Try It Tuesday

How was everyone’s three-day weekend? Actually, I don’t think everyone got Monday off. The Moore School District actually had class yesterday! What a rip! I took the day off, but MAN! Sometimes I think it’s harder to take a day off because you have to take extra time to get caught up again. Sigh.

But at least today I’ve got a tasty Try It Tuesday to make your day a little sweeter.

Huff the Hubs can’t have chocolate. *Gasp* I know, he’s totally missing out, right? The delectable delicacy gives the poor guy migraines, so I’m always looking for desserts that have zero (or not a lot) of chocolate in them. Thanks to Pinterest, I found one this weekend!

Lemon Cookies Original Pin

Light and luscious lemon cookies!

This cookie recipe only has three ingredients:

photo 1

1 box lemon cake mix

1/3 cup oil

2 eggs

This was so easy; I got it taken care of in less than a half hour! First, I preheated my oven to 375*. Then, I mixed the oil, cake mix, and eggs together.

After that, I just grabbed some dough and rolled it into balls. (Helpful tip: spray your hands with Pam first; it helps to keep the dough from sticking to your fingers). Then, I placed them on a greased cookie sheet.

I baked them for about 5 minutes. After they cooled, I tried one.

They were fabulous!

If you’ve got an extra sweet tooth and would like a little glaze, all you need is about ¼ cup powdered sugar and 2 tablespoon milk. Mix it all together and drizzle on the cookies! These would be GREAT with tea! Maybe serve at your next Downton Abbey watch party…?

Try It Monday

Happy Monday!

Wait. That’s sort of an oxymoron isn’t it? Happy Monday? No such thing, right?

Because today I’ve got a yummy Try It for you, just in time for your New Year’s par-tay!

Its pretty simple and REALLY good!

Every Christmas, my parents get a tin with the three different flavors of popcorn. Typically, the caramel one goes first and everyone gets all butt hurt because they “only got a handful” of the sweet treat. Well hold on to your hats! I’m about to save the holidays.

Caramel Corn Puffs! ("Gotta have my Pops!")

Caramel Corn Puffs! (“Gotta have my Pops!”)

My mom and sister made these the other night and they were BANGIN’!

Here’s what you need:

2 sticks butter

2 c. brown sugar

1/2 c. Karo (light)

1/2 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp Kosher salt

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1 package Cheetos butter flavored corn puffs (Chester’s Puffcorn)

In a large saucepan, bring butter, brown sugar and Karo to a boil for 5 minutes, but be sure to stir it a few times. Then, stir in vanilla, salt and baking soda (the mixture will bubble; don’t worry, this is supposed to happen).

Sweet caramelly goodness.

Meanwhile, pour the corn puffs into a large bowl. Next, pour the mixture over the corn puffs and stir until well coated.

Ooohhhh yeeeahhh....

Ooohhhh yeeeahhh….

Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour, stirring the mixture every 15 minutes. When time’s up, place the dishes on a cooling rack.

Caramel popcorn at its best; hot and fresh from the oven!

Then, try not to eat the whole thing. You’ll want to, trust me. Its THAT good. They seriously taste like Corn Pops and I lurve Corn Pops!
