Try It Tuesday

I love a good “upcycling” project. If I can take something that looks like it should just be thrown out and then make it into something awesome, its a great feeling! (Remember when I did the play kitchen revamp?)

A few weeks ago, my mom and I were out running errands and we saw a little push car sitting by the curb. There were people in the front lawn, sitting on lawn chairs so I asked, “How much do you want for the little car?”

“Nothing!” said one of the men. “You can have it!”

I grabbed it up and tossed it in the car. I thought Huff the Babe would love it, but it desperately needed a paint job and I knew EXACTLY how I wanted this bad boy to turn out:

I gave it a good scrub down, with help from my happy assistant:

Then, I disassembled it and taped down parts I didn’t want painted:

Then, I went to work sanding it. After I sanded everything, I painted it with a coat of primer. After that coat of paint dried, I painted it the color I chose:

Any guesses as to what it going to be?

When I was satisfied with the color, I got to work adding some accessories and special touches:

I put it back together (shout out to my dad for getting the wheels back on), replaced the broken safety strap, and hollered for the kiddos to come see!

They were VERY impressed! And, to be honest, so was I! I am extremely happy with how it turned out! Especially when I calculated everything. These cars run about $50. My Batmobile revamp? Less than $16! Woohoo!
