Happy Friday, all! Bummed you can’t go to San Diego Comic Con? Yeah, me too. Sigh. Even though you can’t be there reveling in all the geeky glory, I can still bring you noteworthy nerdy nifties to make you feel like you’re there!

Her Universe has just released a new line of Disney-related garb at #SDCC and I have to say, its ADORABLE! Just check out what they’ve got!

This gorgeous, Ariel-inspired top is great for walking on the beach this summer!

Y’all, I’m glad it’s Friday, but I’m also super bummed. Why? Because I’m in Oklahoma when I SHOULD be in San Diego.

Sigh. For those of us stuck at home, anxiously watching our Twitter feeds to see what’s going down at #SDCC, I have some geeky goodies that will help you feel a little less sad about missing all the fun.

This year at Comic Con, Toys R Us is debuting new Batman play sets and they are awesome and full of girl power!

Oh yes! That’s Batgirl from the original 1960’s TV show! AND, there’s another set with my favorite, Harley Quinn and the Dark Knight himself!

And speaking of the caped crusader, check out this A-DORK-ABLE dress from ModCloth!

Isn’t it so stinking cute?! I think I know what I’m putting on my Christmas list…

This fall, we’re going to see new episodes of our fave shows as well as new toys! Like this Agent Carter Vinyl Pop!

Peggy Carter Vinyl Pop

Peggy’s “Pop” will be released this August! I NEED one of these! I think I may get a Captain American one and put them on a shelf close together. I totally ‘ship them!

Love Games of Thrones so much you want to live it, but not much of a LARP-er? Then pick up one of these play sets from HBO and you can pass it off as your kid’s!

Iron Throne Playset

Exclusively from HBO, this line of GoT figurines and sets are basically the show come to life! The first set, above, features Joffrey, Tyrion, and Lannister guards with the Irone Throne. Future sets will have Daenerys, John Snow, Ghost, Grey Worm, Rhaegal and so much more!

Y’all, like the boy wizard, I feel as though Hogwarts will always be my home. Anytime I see ANYTHING HP-related, I have to buy it. And it looks like ThinkGeek will be getting a deposit from my Gringott’s account soon! Look at these excellent earrings:

Seriously. How stunning would you look with these dangling from your ears as you walked into the Yule Ball?

Happy fangirling!

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttssssssssssss Friday!

Time to kick back; drink a cold glass of Diet A&W® and binge-watch Sherlock on Netflix.

But, before the chillaxing begins, take a gander at these delightfully dorky treasures I’ve track down from the web!

San Diego Comic Con was almost a month ago, but I’m still finding out some awesome things that happened at the convention! Like this!

Lee Pace

Lee Pace totally photobombed sleeping fans that were camped out outside of Hall H! Click the link for more amazing things you may have missed from this year’s SDCC!

JJ Abrams is pretty much my favorite director. Not just because of his ability to breathe new life into old franchises, but also because he keeps tweeting/leaking photos from the new Star Wars flick! Check out Han Solo’s new costume!

Harrison Ford

What do you think? It really reminds me of a certain space cowboy

And speaking of space, look at this AMAZING space-themed room a dad made for his son! Complete with rocket!

This week, the world lost one of the greatest comedians in the history of comedy, Robin Williams. The tributes have been pouring in. They’re all very touching, however I think this one is the best. The cast of Broadyway’s Aladdin paid a musical tribute to him onstage after one of their shows. Take a look:

Happy Friday, peeps!

Summer is in full swing with the sweltering heat and scorching sun burning everyone to a Tan Mom crisp.

Summer also means San Diego Comic Con! Woo! And guess who’s making his first SDCC appearance? Its Baker Street’s sexiest sleuth!

ben

Yes! Benedict Cumberbatch will join the rest of The Penguins of Madagascar cast! Friday’s schedule for Comic Con has also been released! It jam-packed with all our favorite fandoms! There’s a Game of Thrones panel as well as The Walking Dead and Daniel Radcliffe will be appearing at SDCC for the first time promoting Horns!

I haven’t heard, but I’m willing to bet that there will be a Mockingjay: Part One panel too! And speaking of the people of Panem, check out this amazing new teaser trailer for the next film in The Hunger Games saga!

Not only does summer mean heat and conventions, it also means wedding season is here! My mailbox is getting flooded with invites! I’m hoping that some of the nuptuals I’m invited to have rings as awesome as these:

Mine and Huff the Hubs anniversary is also coming up! I’m thinking I may need to drop some subtle hints that I want this!

Have a great weekend!

Comic Con: A Recap

You’re all probably sick of me writing about Comic Con. And, if you are, then I have only one thing to say to you:

Now that that’s settled, lets move on.

Comic Con was last week and sadly, I was not there. However I did do a lot of internet searching stalking and found out some awesome tidbits about all the nerdy things I (and many of you) love!

First up, the movies!

Divergent

Tris and Four

Tris and Four

At the Divergent panel, the stars talked about the movie adaptation of one of my new favorite dystopian series. From what I gather around the interwebs, the cast was pretty vague about what was going to happen in the movie/how close to the book it would be. Although Shailene Woodley (AKA, Tris) did say she was excited to see how the scene where Christina is held over the chasm turns out in the final cut!

Catching Fire

Oh yes, JLaw and JHutch were at this year’s SDCC with all the Quarter Quell scoop! I couldn’t find any video of the actual panel, but I’m really hoping that the guy that plays Finnick was there in his net toga. I’m sure the fangirls would’ve went wild! Even if he wasn’t, they surely flip their lids when they saw the NEW trailer for CF! I dare you to not get goosebumps:

Captain America: Winter Soldier

Back off, Black Widow!

Back off, Black Widow!

According to what I’ve read on various geeky sites, the sequel to Captain America is going to be EPIC. We’re going to see Capt. Steve Rogers like we’ve never seen him before. He’s more confident after leading the Avengers in NYC, and is ready to take on anything (except maybe pop culture references that have nothing to do with flying monkeys). And, according to many con-goers, there’s a steamy kissing scene between the Captain and Black Widow. I know a certain sister of mine who is NOT going to be happy about that!

Batman/Superman

Zack Snyder pretending to be Chris Hardwick.

Zack Snyder pretending to be Chris Hardwick.

Oh yes, my friends, the rumors are true. At the Man of Steel panel, director Zach Snyder broke the news that a Batman/Superman flick is in the works and should be released in 2015! Henry Cavill will come back as the wonder boy from Krypton, as will Amy Adams and Diane Lane. The question is now, who will be Batman? Christian Bale has already said he’s hung up the cowl for good, so he will not be returning. My vote? Joseph Gordon Levitt. I really hope they do this right. Maybe Snyder should call up Joss Whedon for some advice…?

And now for the television shows!

The Walking Dead

Hey Rick, how you doin'?

Hey Rick, how you doin’?

OMZ. I am so freaking excited for the new season of The Walking Dead! I actually got to watch the trailer online a few days ago (okay, I’ve watched it like, 4 times now) and I got chills Every. Single. Time. The peeps from the jail are back and have a new sense of survival. Rick’s back from his CrazyTown trip and is finally back to the Rick we know and love. Carl’s hair is still growing and Daryl still looks like the hottest homeless man in the world. Now that the whole Woodbury fiasco is over and done with, the show can get back to the main point of it all: ZOMBIES. Holy crap were there a lot of undead walking around in that trailer! Don’t believe me? Just take a look…

Vampire Diaries

Like a boss.

Like a boss.

This year’s season finale of VD left me going: “OMG!” and “Whaaa—?”

Whilst I was shocked by some of the things that happened (Bonnie dying, Jeremy coming back to life, Katherine becoming human, and Stefan being Silas’ doppelganger, I was also confused. Why would Klaus just up and leave? (Because of the spinoff, duh) And if the hunters are all alive, why can’t Bonnie be alive too? I thought all the supernatural’s were supposed to cross back through the veil…? Anyway, at Comic Con last week the VD panel showed a new trailer for this season and I am so stoked! I remember when I went to Comic Con and on preview night, we got to see the first episode of the show. I looked over at my sister when the credits rolled and said: “Um, we HAVE to watch this!”

link this to Johnny Galecki:

Big Bang Theory

From what I gathered, the panel for TBBT was supposed to just be writers…not really something you get too worked up about. But, in true Comic Con fashion, there were a few surprises to be revealed. Melissa Rauch (AKA Bernadette) stepped out to a roar of applause when introduced as the panel’s moderator. When Rauch opened the panel up for questions from the audience, someone dressed as Boushh (AKA Princess Leia’s alter ego in Return of the Jedi) with mask and all, Rauch exclaimed: “Reveal yourself!” To which the Boushh impersonator took off his helmet and replied: “Someone who loves you!” It was none other than Dr. Hofstadter himself, Mr. Johnny Galecki! The crowd of course went wild and Johnny joined the panel of writers. When the audience members asked what we could see in season 7, the writers threw them a bone: we’ll see Leonard on the ship working with Stephen Hawking’s crew, Amy and Bernadette are going to take a trip sans Penny, and when asked if Amy and Sheldon would ever take their relationship to the next level (nudge, nudge; wink, wink) the writer’s said: “It’s a very good possibility!” *Cue the middle school “Ooooooh”s! The panel concluded with a very special (and funny) video from Stephen Hawking:

SDCC

It’s the end of July and we all know what that means. No, not back-to-school sales, San Diego Comic Con!

Every year near the 20th of July, the sunny seaside town of San Diego (founded by the Germans*, you know) is flooded with geeky hordes of DND lovers, cosplay fanatics, and larping lunatics. It’s a great time to be an American.

Four years ago, I was able to go to “The Con” (that’s what we “in the know” refer to it as) and I had an absolute BLAST! Hands down, one of the most fun weeks I’ve ever had.

I’ve been seeing countless tweets and status updates from folks at The Con. It made me misty-eyed for my Con experience back in ’09, so I’m going to take you down a trip on Memory Lane.

Before going to Comic Con, I wasn’t sure what to expect. All I knew was: David Tennant was going to be there and so was the cast of New Moon. That’s all I cared about. Seriously.

When we arrived and got our badges, that’s when everything started to “get real”. I thought, “Holy crap. This is like, a really big thing!” (<– That’s what she said.)

Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!

Badges? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges!

There were people in costumes EVERYWHERE. Some of them were odd (we always assumed that the weird costumes that we didn’t recognize HAD to be from anime. I was NOT a fan of anime back then) and some were downright awesome:

Quail Man!

Quail Man!

This was taken five minutes before I yelled at them for cutting. You may look like the Doctor, but that doesn't mean I won't turn on you.

This was taken five minutes before I yelled at them for cutting. You may look like the Doctor, but that doesn’t mean I won’t turn on you.

I didn’t quite grasp just how many people came to Comic Con until we stood in line for the New Moon panel. The NM panel wasn’t on until much later in the afternoon, but we soon discovered that you have to sit through some stuff you may not want to in order to see who you want to see (i.e., the trailer and panel for The Final Destination: 3D. There are certain things you can’t unsee).

That day, the panel started off pretty nice; it was an hour-long Disney preview panel hosted by Patton Oswalt, also known as the voice of Remi from Ratatouille. He talked about some upcoming Disney movies and brought out Tim Burton. Tim Freaking Burton, y’all.

After discussing Alice In Wonderland, Mr. Burton said he had a surprise for us…His surprise? Johnny The Hottie Depp. When he walked out onto the stage, my sister started to sweat and I thought my bestie was going to go into labor (she was 5 months preggo at the time). It. Was. Amazing.

Oh, Johnny...

Oh, Johnny…

Sidebar: later on in the week, my sister and I were walking around the main floor and we saw someone in a squirrel costume. Here’s the conversation my sister and I had:

Bridget: Is that a squirrel?

Me: I think so.

Bridget: What’s that from?

Me: *disgusted voice* Ugh, probably some anime or something.

When we got home, we were watching E! News and were shocked to find out that the person in the squirrel costume was Johnny Depp! Moral of the story? If you see someone dressed in a costume that doesn’t seem to fit any genre of nerdom, take a picture with them. It could be a celebrity.

Anywhoo, back to my main point: the panels at CC are great! You never know what you might see. Like the cast of Chuck singing Queen’s Fat Bottom Girls:

Jeffster!

Jeffster!

Or David Tennant wearing a Stormtrooper shirt:

My hearts beat for Ten.

My hearts beat for Ten.

Or the chance to get a picture with Milo Ventamiglia:

"Jess" and Jessie!

“Jess” and Jessie!

Between the panels, the booths, and the costumes, Comic Con is one of those things that unless you’ve been, you can’t really grasp the nerdy magnificence. I wish I was going this year but evidently, you can’t fly when you’re 32 weeks pregnant. Sigh. Oh well, there’s always next year!

*Yes, I know San Diego wasn’t really founded by Germans. Clearly you’ve never seen Anchorman.
