Fan Girl Friday!

Sorry I was MIA last week. This whole “preppring-to-leave-my-job-of-five-years” thing has been a little crazy! But I’m back! And OMSquee, you guys, I’ve got SO much to tell you!

First, can we just take a moment to lament the fact that we missed San Diego Comic Con?! UGH! I want to go back SO. FRAKKING. BAD. Especially after seeing this A-DORK-ABLE video the folks over at The Nerdist made!

I should have been there! Waaahhh! *Sniff* Okay, moving on.

Y’all, I really think Sherlock fans are some of the best people in the world. Not only because we love a guy with a ridiculous name, but also because we have to wait YEARS in between seasons. So quit your whining, Game of Thrones fans! We know what REAL torture is! And the teaser for the next season of our favorite sleuth just hit the web, making us a tad bit impatient for next year!

So is Moriarty REALLY back? Why is Mrs. Hudson so mad? Will Holmes keep the beard?! These are pressing matters we need answers to STAT.

I kind of feel awkward telling you this next bit of news. See, I only read the fir,st two books of the Divergent series. I don’t even remember seeing the second movie! I also didn’t know that the final book was split into two movies! The final movie is called:

ascendant

Now, for those of you wanting to see it on the big screen, bad news. According to MoviePilot.com, the last film will be released as a TV movie! This is pretty shocking to me! I thought this franchise was pretty successful. Though everyone I know that’s read the final book HATED it. So. Maybe not? What are your thoughts on this?

NASA has been in the news a lot lately, what with the whole Juno entering Jupiter’s orbit and the mission to Mars. And, because NASA is filled with fandom-loving folks such as us (you know, but with doctorates and super smarts) they recently released photos of their new mission patches!

leuajeiddcixadbydwnv

You’re not seeing things; that IS Rocket Raccoon and Groot! According to The Nerdist, NASA hope this will get the general population more interested in what they’re doing:

“The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) is hoping that putting these characters one their uniforms will help draw eyes to the International Space Station and to their mission in general.”

Here’s hoping they come out with a “NASA Astronaut Awesome Mix Vol. 1” for the mission as well!

Happy Friday, y’all!

Today has been a CRAZY day! Huff the Hubs got his wisdom teeth pulled this morning and I’ve been taking care of him while also scouring the internet for awesomely nerdy nifties for YOU! (I’ve also been researching how much it will cost us to move because I saw a mouse in our kitchen this morning and I do NOT want to live here anymore!)

Remember how awesome it was when Johnny Depp was the Madhatter in Alice in Wonderland? And how we all wished we could see him reprise his role? Well pine no longer, lovelies! Our wishes have come true! The sequel to Alice in WonderlandAlice Through The Looking Glass, is set to hit theaters next May! AND, its awesome trailer (complete with Alan Rickman voice over) is out!

And speaking of deep-voiced Brits, have y’all seen the  latest trailer for Sherlock‘s Christmas special?! NO?! Well, here it is!

Sidebar: When I see Holmes and Watson dressed like that, all I can think of is The Great Mouse Detective, ha ha!

Sadly, I don’t have a trailer for this last find, BUT I do have pictures and insider info! The latest film from the wizarding world of JK Rowling, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, officially has a logo AND a plot!

Fan Girl Friday Fantastic Beasts Eddie

The film, starring Eddie Redmayne, will be full of the magical world we all know and love, but with some twists. According to Entertainment Weekly:

“Eccentric magizoologist Newt Scamander comes to New York (for a reason we won’t disclose) with his trusty weathered case. This case is one of those way-way-way-bigger-on-the-inside magical devices, and within are expansive habitats for a collection of rare and endangered magical creatures from Newt’s travels around globe. He discovers the American wizarding community is fearfully hiding from Muggles (who are called “No-Maj” in the States) and the threat of public exposure is an even graver concern than in the UK (remember the Salem witch trials?). Fantastic Beasts is the story of what happens when this uniquely skilled English wizard travels to wiz-phobic America and a variety of his creatures, some quite dangerous … get out of their case.”

SQEEEEE!!!!! I. CANNOT. WAIT.

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttttttttttt’sssssssssssssssssssss Friday! Time to throw on comfy pants and binge-watch those shows that have been on your Netflix list for months and bring on the weekend, people! I’ve got what you need to make your fangirl (or fanboy) heart full of end-of-the-week-geeky glee!

I recently cleaned out my closet and realized that 80% of my closet is full of fandom-related shirts. And do I care? Nope! Because they’re awesome. And, by the looks of a new website I found, I’m thinking its going to move to a full 100%!

fandom gear

This site, Look Human, is AWESOME! They have TONS of fandom gear for whatever you’re into: Doctor Who, Sherlock, Supernatural, gaming; they’ve got it all!

The Incredibles sequel is happening! I know, I know, try to remain calm. I mean, this is only something we’ve been waiting for for over the past ELEVEN years! (*SQUEAL*)

Incredibles 2

During an interview with IGN, director Brad Bird discussed his approach to the movie: “A lot of superhero films have been made since ‘Incredibles’ and it is kind of like an athletic field that’s just kind of dried up dirt now, with a few clumps of grass…I love those characters in ‘Incredibles’, but I’m also a moviegoer and I want to be surprised by movies. I want them to zig when they should be zagging. That’s the goal with that one.”

From now until June 14th, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is going galactic! That’s right, padawan, they are bringing the world of Star Wars to the House of Mouse with themed food, drinks, and lots more! They’ve even converted their quick-service restaurant—Backlot Express—to a cantina-themed chow house called The Rebel Hangar!

Star Wars Restaurant

The menu looks amazing with items such as: Chips and Sith, The Dark Fried, Pilot’s Pomme Frites, and a beverage called The Rebel Red!

Am I the only one that is totally geeking out about Jurassic World hitting the theaters in less than two weeks?! I remember being a kid, totally being obsessed with dinos, and then seeing Jurassic Park. I flipped my third-grade lid. Well, get ready to flip your adult lid’s folks, because Lego teamed up with JW to bring us this beauty:

Fan Girl Friday

You guys, today’s Fan Girl Friday is jam-packed with geeky gear sure to set your fangirl heart a-flutterin’!

How cute is this Star Wars-meets-utensils-mug from Perpetual Kid?

spork mug

This would make a great gift for the Jedi in your life and, at $11.99, it won’t break the bank!

Speaking of the greatest trilogy known to man (I refuse to acknowledge Episodes 1-3. They are crap, sir.), make your toast a little more dark (see what I did there?) thanks to Think Geek!

vader toaster

Seriously, how fantabulous is this toaster?! Not only is it shaped like Vader’s helmet, but it actually toasts the words “Star Wars” on your bread (or waffles…or Toaster Strudel®).

Here at THP, we’re all about nerd culture, so when I saw this, I did the flailiest of Kermit arm flails!

geek art book

This book highlights artists and their work in the world of video games, movies, comic books, and television shows! It’s like Nerd-Vana!

I really like Origami Owl. I think that their stuff is super cute, but, I’m bummed that they don’t have nerdy jewelry/charms. Enter Etsy shop WonderlandContraband! Just check out these adorable charms:

Its Bill Nye the Science Guy!

Fan Girl Friday

Hey you guyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyys!

Its Friday, people and I cannot believe it! I guess since I took a few days off this week has seemed so incredibly short! I am seriously in disbelief that it’s Friday. But, I’m glad it is! Because that means I can share with you all the fantastically fan-worthy finds I’ve stumbled upon this week!

Did you hear the collective cry of: “Why, GOD?! WHY?!” this week? Every fangirl in the world lamented the fact that everyone’s favorite sexy sleuth is officially off the market. Yep, Benedict Cumberbatch is engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Sophie Hunter. So yes, technically he’s no longer a free man. But, we can still giddy and giggly watching him do some spot on impressions of other celebs:

Speaking of folks across the pond, we have less than TWO months until we return to our beautiful home in the English countryside—Downton Abbey. And, lucky for us, a new trailer has been released!

Oh yeah, I just. Got. CHILLS.

I so jazzed that it is FINALLY getting cold around! Its my favorite season! No, not winter, hoodie season! And what better way to stay warm and cozy than with this adorable hoodie from Think Geek:

Give warm hugs and stay cozy!

My love for Harry Potter runs crazy deep. I mean, my daughter’s name is Hermione for heaven’s sake! But, I may think about the franchise a bit differently had the designs for the creatures and places been a bit…well, darker. Never before seen concept art for the HP films was released this week and, to be honest, they are probably going to haunt my dreams tonight! Just look!

This has been a KA-RAZEE week! I’m soooo glad its nearly done!

Even though I’ve been insanely busy, I found the time to round up some squee-worthy finds for boys and girls of every fandom!

If you’re like Huff the Hubs, then you are REALLY going to enjoy this first item. This month marks the 30th anniversary of the Ghostbusters movie! I can’t believe its been 30 years! Movie theaters all around the nation are playing the flick for a limited time, so if you were too young to enjoy it on the silver screen when it first came out, good news! Plus, we’re seeing a plethora of memorabilia featuring our favorite poltergeist-fighting team! Like these a-dork-able vinyl figurines from Quantum Mechanix!

I ain't afraid of no ghost!

I ain’t afraid of no ghost!

My little Hermione (or, as one friend referred to her: Huff the Babes) turned one this week! Can you believe it?! Seems like only yesterday I was complaining about false labor pains! I’ve already done her birthday shopping for her party tomorrow, but I think I may need to get these as an extra gift:

Bathroom humor is the best humor.

Bathroom humor is the best humor.

These aren’t your typical “A is apple” flash cards. These cards buck the norm and have hilarious cards like, “F is for fart” and “B is for booger”. Kids are gonna learn this stuff anyway, right?

If you’d rather keep it clean, but still have a geeky-good time, grab a deck of these Princess Bride cards from The Albino Dragon!

Royal Flush?! Inconceivable!

Royal Flush?! Inconceivable!

There are three exclusive sets to choose from, too!

You guys, I’ve got some awesome TV news about some of our favorite shows!

If you’re like me and totally waiting on pins and needles and for the season premiere of Once Upon A Time to see Elsa and Anna in action, then get ready to squeal with delight! This week the producers over at OUAT threw us a bone with an exclusive look at the girls in action! Watch:

AHHHH!!! September 28th cannot get here fast enough!

How excited were you when Sherlock won THREE Emmy’s last week?! Wasn’t that awesome?! I was so proud of my favorite boys across the pond! My glee was short-lived, however, after I read a recent interview with Steven Moffat. When asked about the new season of the show, here’s what Steven had to say: “We have a plan to top it [season three]. And I do think our plan is devastating. We’ve practically reduced our cast to tears telling them the plan … we’re probably more excited that we’ve ever been about Sherlock.”

Don't cry, dear.

Don’t cry, dear.

WHAT?! What does this mean?! Is our favorite sleuth going to be really dead this time? Is Watson? Will Molly’s sweater collection burn in a terrible fire? The suspense is killing me!

Fan Girl Friday

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttssssssssssss Friday!

Time to kick back; drink a cold glass of Diet A&W® and binge-watch Sherlock on Netflix.

But, before the chillaxing begins, take a gander at these delightfully dorky treasures I’ve track down from the web!

San Diego Comic Con was almost a month ago, but I’m still finding out some awesome things that happened at the convention! Like this!

Lee Pace

Lee Pace totally photobombed sleeping fans that were camped out outside of Hall H! Click the link for more amazing things you may have missed from this year’s SDCC!

JJ Abrams is pretty much my favorite director. Not just because of his ability to breathe new life into old franchises, but also because he keeps tweeting/leaking photos from the new Star Wars flick! Check out Han Solo’s new costume!

Harrison Ford

What do you think? It really reminds me of a certain space cowboy

And speaking of space, look at this AMAZING space-themed room a dad made for his son! Complete with rocket!

This week, the world lost one of the greatest comedians in the history of comedy, Robin Williams. The tributes have been pouring in. They’re all very touching, however I think this one is the best. The cast of Broadyway’s Aladdin paid a musical tribute to him onstage after one of their shows. Take a look:
