Try It Tuesday

Happy Tuesday, folks! I’ve tested some new products and I can’t wait to share them with you! Last time, I told you all about my new favorite yogurt found in a new refrigerated section of Walmart. I found one of today’s Try Its right next to it!

Naked is primarily known for its vast assortment of juices and drinks, but they recently launched a new line of fruit/veggie/nut bars! I tried the Red Machine!

This bar is packed full of vitamins and minerals! Its made from: almonds, apples, carrots, pistachios, cranberries, cherries, and spinach! They’re non-GMO, vegan, gluten free, and made without preservatives! This bar was pretty good! It was a tad chewy, but still really good!

The next item I tried is new from McCormick–the spice people! They have a new line of breakfast toppers–shakers full of crunchy goodness to add to yogurt, cereal, or oatmeal! I bought the Cocoa Banana and sprinkled it on my plain kefir!

The breakfast topper was DELISH! The plain kefir? Not so much. Definitely need fruit to add to that to make it palatable.

This week, I thought I’d take a break from my declutter challenge and post about something super fun and tasty! If you follow this blog, you know I absolutely love unicorns. Who wouldn’t?! They’re pretty and magical and downright awesome!

Anyway, the other day, Huff the Tot and Huff the Hubs ran some errands. When they got home, HtT was super excited to show me a “surprise” they got for me.

I was nervous at first. This was a BIG box. What if this cereal tasted like cardboard? What if it was so sugary that one of my teeth fell out? All valid concerns. Because my kiddo was absolutely thrilled that she picked out something unicorn for her mommy, I decided to go ahead and try it!

Y’all. It was actually really good! After trying it with and without milk, I’m thoroughly convinced that eating this cereal dry is the way to go. It just didn’t taste right in milk. (There are certain cereals that just lose their tastiness in milk. Ya feel me?) And, bonus! One cup is only 110 calories! This would make a great dessert or sweet snack! (I know its not the healthiest, but still!)

Try It Tuesday

I love trying new products. And thanks to Try It Tuesday, I have an excuse to by all of these cool items I see at the store that I normally wouldn’t buy! Enter, these two new treats!

I looooove Pop Tarts and I have such an intimate lover affair with bacon that one of my nicknames is Bacon Face. So, yeah, when I saw these, I was SO. FREAKING. EXCITED.

IMG_7751

I normally don’t heat up my Pop Tarts (I know; I’m weird) but this one was begging to be toasted. Y’all, it smelled AMAZING as it was heating up in the toaster. Fo’ reals. It was like bacon was sizzling on the griddle. I couldn’t wait to try it!

IMG_7752

The smell, however, was the best part of this. I couldn’t really taste the “bacon” and the maple was really overpowering. Sigh.

I’m a big fan of Laughing Cow cheeses. They are so yummy! They have always been one of my favorite snacks. A Laughing Cow wedge + whole wheat crackers = A Happy Jessie. I was shopping at WalMart the other day and saw these:

It was like freaking Dunkaroos for adults! And let me tell ya, these did NOT disappoint! It was so tasty! My only complaint was that there was a lot of leftover cheese and not enough sticks to dunk (ironically, I always had the opposite problem with Dunkaroos, lol). Other than that, this was a yummy snack and only has 100 calories! Goldmine!

Try It Tuesday

Happy first day of Autumn, folks!

fall leaves gif

Today was a BEAUTIFUL day in OKC! Huff the Babe and I even went outside and played! And we didn’t melt! Ahhhh, the sweet cool days of fall. I’m so happy they’re back!

Sadly, today’s Try It isn’t a pumpkin or caramel flavored treat (although I have pinned many ideas on Pinterest, so don’t worry; they’re coming!). However, today’s Try It IS healthy and yummy!

Here’s what you need:

~a banana

~peanut butter (or almond butter; basically whatever nut butter your heart desires)

~1/4 cup chocolate chips (I used chunks because its all we had)

~wax paper

~small cookie sheet

That’s it!

First, line a small cookie sheet with wax paper. Then, slice up your banana as such:

Spread some peanut butter on a slice and make a “banana sandwich” with another slice:

Keep going until all of the slices have been “sandwich-ified”. Then, place them on the wax paper-lined cookie sheet and stick in the freezer for about an hour. After the hour is up, melt your chocolate in the microwave:

Grab the bananas from the freezer and dip them into the chocolate, covering half of them. Pop ’em back into the freezer for another hour and then voila! your healthy snack/dessert is ready to be devoured:

Honestly guys, if these things last until Huff the Hubs gets home, it’ll be a miracle. These little banana bites were so incredibly tasty AND easy! I think I might make these my “go-to” snack to take to parties!

Try It Wednesday

Man, oh, man! Am I glad that Tuesday is over with! That root canal was brutal. I have officially come out of my Novocain-induced haze and I am feeling ALIVE today! Woo!

Since I didn’t have a Try It for you yesterday, I thought I’d show you what I’ve been cookin’ up (literally) just in time for your Easter Sunday get-together!

bunny bait original pin

Its called “Bunny Bait” and it is AWESOME! It reminds me of the party mix I made last fall, but less cavity-inducing-sweet and a better blend of salty and sweet!

Here’s what you need:

photo 1

~2 cups pretzels sticks

~2 cups Rice Chex®

~1 cup M&M’s®

~Almond Bark (or white chocolate baking chips)

~I bag (popped) natural popcorn

Grab a cookie sheet and line it with aluminum foil. Then, pour the pretzels and cereal (be sure to mix them up good) then add the popcorn:

Already a great snack!

Already a great snack!

Then, melt the almond bark (or chips) in the microwave, stir, and pour over the ingredients on the cookie sheet:

Sure did lick the bowl of almond bark after this pic was taken!

Fold the ingredients so the almond bark covers the pretzels, cereal, and popcorn evenly. Let the mixture dry to a sticky consistency. Then add in the candies and mix some more. That’s it! you’re done!

"Bunny Bait"? More like "Blogger's Bait!"

“Bunny Bait”? More like “Blogger’s Bait!”

This was so. freaking. good. And super easy! This took me maybe 10 minutes to put together (not including the cooling time). This would be a great treat to make with the kiddos!

{We had an “Easter Potluck” on Monday (basically just an excuse for us to gorge on bunny-shaped treats) and TWO of us made this! We made quick work of both!}

Try It Tuesday

I woke up this morning to snow! It was so pretty! The best part? I didn’t have to go anywhere today! What, what!

So since I was snowed in (and by “snowed in” I mean it was too stinking cold for me to go outside even though the snow had melted by noon) I thought I’d make a tasty treat for today’s Try It!

Check it out!

Nummy!

Nummy!

Its Jell-o flavored popcorn! Awesome, right?!

Here’s what ya need:

(Sugar not pictured!)

(Sugar not pictured!)

8 cups of popped popcorn
1/4 cup butter
3 tbsp light corn syrup
1/2 cup sugar
1 box of Jell-O flavor
Pre-heat your oven to 300*. Then, put some foil on a large baking pan and spray with cooking spray and set it to the side. Measure out the popcorn and place it in a large mixing bowl and set it aside. Melt the butter and corn syrup on your in a pot on the stove.
Its like buttah!

Its like buttah!

When the butter is melted, pour in the corn syrup and Jell-O (I used strawberry). Mix well. Let the mixture boil and then simmer for about 4-5 minutes.
Pretty, huh?

Pretty, huh?

Then, pour the mixture over the popcorn and mix it well.

Oh yeah!

Oh yeah!

Then, spread the popcorn on the pan and bake for 10 minutes.
Mmm...

Mmm…

After 10 minutes, take out the pan and let it cool. And then, DEVOUR.

SO. GOOD.

SO. GOOD.

GUYS. This stuff is AMAZING! I’m seriously considering making it for a Super Bowl party we’re attending on Sunday! Maybe make them match the team colors? The possibilities are ENDLESS!

Try It Monday

Happy Monday!

Wait. That’s sort of an oxymoron isn’t it? Happy Monday? No such thing, right?

WRONG.

Because today I’ve got a yummy Try It for you, just in time for your New Year’s par-tay!

Its pretty simple and REALLY good!

Every Christmas, my parents get a tin with the three different flavors of popcorn. Typically, the caramel one goes first and everyone gets all butt hurt because they “only got a handful” of the sweet treat. Well hold on to your hats! I’m about to save the holidays.

Caramel Corn Puffs! ("Gotta have my Pops!")

Caramel Corn Puffs! (“Gotta have my Pops!”)

My mom and sister made these the other night and they were BANGIN’!

Here’s what you need:

2 sticks butter

2 c. brown sugar

1/2 c. Karo (light)

1/2 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp Kosher salt

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1 package Cheetos butter flavored corn puffs (Chester’s Puffcorn)

In a large saucepan, bring butter, brown sugar and Karo to a boil for 5 minutes, but be sure to stir it a few times. Then, stir in vanilla, salt and baking soda (the mixture will bubble; don’t worry, this is supposed to happen).

Sweet caramelly goodness.

Sweet caramelly goodness.

Meanwhile, pour the corn puffs into a large bowl. Next, pour the mixture over the corn puffs and stir until well coated.

Ooohhhh yeeeahhh....

Ooohhhh yeeeahhh….

Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour, stirring the mixture every 15 minutes. When time’s up, place the dishes on a cooling rack.

Caramel popcorn at its best; hot and fresh from the oven!

Then, try not to eat the whole thing. You’ll want to, trust me. Its THAT good. They seriously taste like Corn Pops and I lurve Corn Pops!
