Fan Girl Friday!

Happy Friday, fangirls and fanboys! I’ve found the latest geeky goodies and compiled them all onto a list just for you!

Y’all, today is the today we’ve all been waiting for! Well, I’ve been waiting for anyway. Marvel’s Jessica Jones drops on Netflix!

Fan Girl Friday Jessica Jones

I’ve already watched the first episode and I like it! Jessica is a tough-talking, booze swilling, semi-hard boiled PI with a dark past. She’s not your typical Marvel heroine, but I like that she’s a bit gritty. I didn’t think I’d be able to accept Krysten Ritter as a tough chick, given that most of the roles I’ve seen her in she plays the earthy best friend or the vapid neighbor. But, I think she’ll do great with this! Plus, it doesn’t hurt that my favorite Doctor is in it as well! Though, he’s not as sweet as his Gallifreyan alter ego.

Looking for a fun gift for your Secret Santa? Check out these clever coins from Perpetual Kid!

Fan GIrl Friday Seed Money

They’re called “Seed Money”. What you do is you plant the paper coins and they grow into pretty flowers! Pennies bloom as delicate wildflowers, nickels become herbs, dimes turn into crunchy root crops, and quarters grow to become crispy fresh salad greens!

This week, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 hit theaters. And, from what I have heard from critics and friends, this is the BEST Hunger Games film yet! I am so excited to see it! I’m also excited about all of the merch that’s hitting the stores. Like this adorable Katniss from Vinyl Pop!

Fan GIrl Friday Katniss

You can get your very own Katniss at Hot Topic stores!

In just a little over a month, we will all be going to a galaxy far, far away! Its time to stock up on all of the Star Wars swag while you can! Like this darling droid lamp from Think Geek!

Fan Girl Friday BB8

This cute little lamp has three settings: on, off, and dim and will add Jedi charm to any room!

Happy Friday, y’all! Today is trailermania on The Huffman Post! I’ve got awesome sneak peeks on much-anticipated movies!

First up, we’ve got The Scorch Trials the second in The Maze Runner series. And, bonus, it opens in theaters today!

Disney is releasing a live-action retelling of their classic The Jungle Book! And by the looks of the trailer, we will not be disappointed, people!

I know many of y’all were none too happy about the ending to the Divergent series, but maybe you’ll be appeased when you watch the newest trailer for the film!

And, finally, the last installment of the Hunger Games saga wraps up this November. When I saw this trailer, titled For Prim, I seriously got goosebumps. Watch and try not to cry!

What’d you think? Have you seen any new trailers that YOU can’t wait to watch in theaters? Share in the comments below!

Scorch Trials

Fan Girl Friday

It’s Friday, people! By this time next week we’ll all be waking up from our turkey comas and trying to scrape together bail money for that one aunt who punched a man for the last $1.99 DVD at the Black Friday sale. Ah, family.

But before you get frantic over family and food, take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy all the geeky goodness I have to share!

You guys. Are you sitting down? If not, do it now. Are you sitting? Good. Lego recently announced six new sets coming to stores next year and three of them are from two of our favorite fandoms!

Oh yes, you heard that right! The Big Bang Theory AND Doctor Who will be getting their own Lego sets! I am seriously geeking out over here! I have already posted these bad boys on my Christmas 2015 list on Amazon!

Speaking of toys, you know I have a deep love for the girls’ line called GoldieBlox. They encourage young girls to get excited about engineering, physics, and other areas of science. While I sometimes think that their marketing may ruffle a few feathers (shamimg girls for liking princesses is sort of like shaming girls for not liking them, amiright?) I do think that their heart is in the right place by wanting to help the fields of math and science be more than a boys club. Here is their new ad:

What do you think? And if it looks familiar, here’s why.

This has been a great week for movie trailers! Especially from Disney! Check out two, all-new trailers from the House of Mouse:

And speaking of movies, I saw The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 last night and It. Was. AH-MAY-ZING! Seriously. I think this is the BEST one so far! The acting was great, the effects were so superb I fought back tears multiple times, and the sets totally blew what I had pictured out of the water! Even though I’ve read the book three times, my heart pounded, I covered my eyes, and hoped upon hope that things would work out (even though I knew the ending). Plus, J.Law’s rendition of The Hanging Tree was ON. POINT.

Fan Girl Friday

Iiiiits Friday! Start your happy dance and let the Diet Coke flow! I’ve got some fantabulous fangirl finds to make today even more like a party!

Even though Firefly is long gone (I know, try not to sob into the tassle’s of your Jayne replica knit hat) you can still live the renegade lifestyle ONLINE! Oh yes, that’s right, Firefly is coming to your PC AND smartphone! You can carry Serenity in your pocket!

firefly

Even though it won’t be available until early 2015, you can check out a sneak peek of the game by clocking the link here. What do you think? I think its SHINY.

I’m not going to lie, when Andrea from The Walking Dead was killed off, I was like, “Sheesh! FINALLY!” Needless to say, I was not the biggest fan of her character. I know I can’t be the only one. Anywhoo, Laurie Holden, the actress that played Andrea on the show, is MUCH more likeable in real life!

andrea the walking dead

Turns out Holden was an instrumental part in an undercover sex-trafficking bust down in Columbia. Holden is a human rights activist and works with a program called Operation Underground Railroad. The group, led by former CIA-agent Tim Ballard, works to free young girls sold into sex slavery. During the sting in Columbia, Holden and the group helped free fifty-five young women! Go Laurie! You can read the full story here.

I am SO incredibly ready for November: turkey, stuffing, and Mockingjay! I’ve been waiting for any new trailers to be released, so when I saw this one, I squealed like a little girl! Check it out!

Speaking of movies, look at what an incredibly talented teen did–using Lego and stop-motion–to capture some of the greatest moments in cult movie history, as well as classic movie posters:

Happy Friday, peeps!

Summer is in full swing with the sweltering heat and scorching sun burning everyone to a Tan Mom crisp.

Summer also means San Diego Comic Con! Woo! And guess who’s making his first SDCC appearance? Its Baker Street’s sexiest sleuth!

ben

Yes! Benedict Cumberbatch will join the rest of The Penguins of Madagascar cast! Friday’s schedule for Comic Con has also been released! It jam-packed with all our favorite fandoms! There’s a Game of Thrones panel as well as The Walking Dead and Daniel Radcliffe will be appearing at SDCC for the first time promoting Horns!

I haven’t heard, but I’m willing to bet that there will be a Mockingjay: Part One panel too! And speaking of the people of Panem, check out this amazing new teaser trailer for the next film in The Hunger Games saga!

Not only does summer mean heat and conventions, it also means wedding season is here! My mailbox is getting flooded with invites! I’m hoping that some of the nuptuals I’m invited to have rings as awesome as these:

Mine and Huff the Hubs anniversary is also coming up! I’m thinking I may need to drop some subtle hints that I want this!

Thrones Bookend

It’s The Iron Throne in bookend form! Protect your books from falling with a the pointiest of regal chairs!

Have a great weekend!

Fan Girl Monday

Happy Monday! Ugh, I got such a bad taste in my mouth when I wrote that. Happy and Monday just don’t go together. Although, today they do!

I’m making up for leaving you hanging on Friday with zero blog post by doing a Fan Girl Monday! Woot, woot!

I’m sure all of you have seen this, but its totally worth sharing again! Last week, a new teaser for Mockingjay: Part One hit the interwebs and Tributes everywhere collectively squealed.

I. CANNOT. WAIT. For November!

Tomorrow is July 1st, so you know what that means! No, not fireworks, Comic Con is almost here! *Kermit arm flail* YAAAAAAYYY! I’m sure all you fanboys and fangirls are putting the last minute touches on your cosplay attire, but if you still need some fancy frocks to wear to the Masquerade Ball, check out this!

You can't take the sky from me.

You can’t take the sky from me.

It’s a Browncoat coat! You can look oh-so-shiny at #SDCC this year!

So, I have to admit something. I don’t actually watch Game of Thrones. Well, I take that back. I’ve watched like, half of season one. But I do catch a few scenes here and there and I’m pretty up-to-date on the “haps” because of my Pinterest feed. But, when I saw this, I cracked up! I equate it with watching Harry Potter with people who haven’t read the books. It’s oddly exhilarating.

Sometimes, when I see weddings on Pinterest, I get sad and wish I would’ve thought to do some of the things others have done at my wedding (don’t get me wrong, my wedding was awesome-sauce, but walking out to the Imperial March would’ve been stellar!). But this really makes me say, “WHY DIDN’T WE DO THIS?!”

I am SO. FLIPPIN. Glad it’s Friday. Not because it’s the start of the weekend, but because my long-lost-bearded-babe will be returning tomorrow! Huff the Hubs has been in Cali this week, learning all kinds of interesting things that I know nothing about and he FINALLY comes home tomorrow! Hermione and I have been in countdown mode pretty much since he stepped onto the plane.

But, in all my joy at my geeky guy’s return to the Heartland, I have not forgotten about you! I’ve found some nerdy novelties sure to tickle your fancy!

If you haven’t seen Maleficent yet, you really need to! My sister LURVES Mal (she’s her favorite Disney villainess) and I think she needs this dress! She can channel her inner dark fairy with this adorable a-line dress from Think Geek!

Maleficent Dress

Well, well…dressed!

I went to the movies the other day and saw The Fault in Our Stars (great flick; take tissues!) and while I was at the theater, I saw a poster for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. I wish it was November 21st already! Sadly, its still months away. But, Lionsgate knows we’re anxiously awaiting its release and has decided to whet our appetites with these propaganda posters, fresh from The Capitol:

Excited yet?

Excited yet?

If you’re like me, you don’t like the dark. But, I also don’t like Daleks. However, I think I’ll feel much safer with this Dalek keeping watch over me at night:

IL-LU-MI-NATE!

IL-LU-MI-NATE!

Is everyone lamenting the end (for a few months away) of Game of Thrones? What will happen to Tyrion? What about Dany’s dragons? Will we ever learn what product Jon Snow uses to make his curls stay so nicely intact? If these questions are ever-running through your mind, you may need some of these awesome GoT inspired gifts! Check out the full list here.
