Fan Girl Friday!

Fan Girl Friday Button

I have been so off my blogging game this week! But not to worry, my faithful followers, I’ve got some nerdy novelties that are sure to perk you right up!

I don’t really dress up that much. In fact, my idea of “dressing” up is switching out sweat pants for a pair of week-old dirty jeans and a t-shirt. But after seeing this skirt, I may rethink my style!

lightsaber skirt

This awesome skirt from Her Universe is the PERFECT pick for any lightsaber-lovin’ lady that’s ready for a night out at the cantina with her scruffy-looking nerf herder!

And speaking of our favorite galaxy far, far away, show your nerd side with this tee from Fun Sports Gear!

Jedi Mom

Jedi moms really are much cooler than normal moms. Plus, we carry lightsabers and know how to handle bounty hunters.

I’m not much of a gamer. Well, I take that back. I can play Super Mario Brothers with the best of them! What better way to show my Nintendo pride than with this raglan tee from Think Geek?

This tee is actually a TG exclusive! The sleeves are decorated with question boxes, Mario-esque clouds and Nintendo controllers! What more could a plumber-lovin’ 80’s girl need?

They say a woman is the “queen of her castle”, now we can actually feel like it with this apron from Perpetual Kid!

How cute would you look stirring spaghetti sauce in this little number? Plus, if your family doesn’t like what you’ve cooked, you can always just tell them to “let it go”.

Happy fangirling!

Fan Girl Friday

Iiiiits Friday! Start your happy dance and let the Diet Coke flow! I’ve got some fantabulous fangirl finds to make today even more like a party!

Even though Firefly is long gone (I know, try not to sob into the tassle’s of your Jayne replica knit hat) you can still live the renegade lifestyle ONLINE! Oh yes, that’s right, Firefly is coming to your PC AND smartphone! You can carry Serenity in your pocket!

Even though it won’t be available until early 2015, you can check out a sneak peek of the game by clocking the link here. What do you think? I think its SHINY.

I’m not going to lie, when Andrea from The Walking Dead was killed off, I was like, “Sheesh! FINALLY!” Needless to say, I was not the biggest fan of her character. I know I can’t be the only one. Anywhoo, Laurie Holden, the actress that played Andrea on the show, is MUCH more likeable in real life!

Turns out Holden was an instrumental part in an undercover sex-trafficking bust down in Columbia. Holden is a human rights activist and works with a program called Operation Underground Railroad. The group, led by former CIA-agent Tim Ballard, works to free young girls sold into sex slavery. During the sting in Columbia, Holden and the group helped free fifty-five young women! Go Laurie! You can read the full story here.

I am SO incredibly ready for November: turkey, stuffing, and Mockingjay! I’ve been waiting for any new trailers to be released, so when I saw this one, I squealed like a little girl! Check it out!

Speaking of movies, look at what an incredibly talented teen did–using Lego and stop-motion–to capture some of the greatest moments in cult movie history, as well as classic movie posters:

Egg Hunt!

As I woke up this morning in a sea of Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg wrappers and wiped the Peeps sugar dust from my cheek, I realized I didn’t participate or watch an Easter egg hunt at all this weekend! My kid is only 7 months old, so an actual egg hunt would be more like me trying to balance a baby, a camera, and a basket while simultaneously looking at the ground, making sure I don’t step on any hard-boiled eggs. In other words: it would’ve been a disaster. But still, I was sad I didn’t partake in this Easter tradition.

So I went on a different kind of Easter Egg hunt–a virtual egg hunt!

Thanks to Doctor Whowe know Easter Eggs (hidden messages/symbols) can be found in just about any kind of entertainment.

This first video has all kinds of video games from the 70’s to now!

This video is more for the hardcore Marvel comic book lovers, but its still super interesting! (I never caught the fact that Stark is wearing a Black Sabbath tee, seeing as how one of Sabbath’s biggest hits was titled Iron Man.)

You know I couldn’t do a blog about Easter Eggs without highlighting the KING of EE’s–Pixar!

(This video is in Spanish, lo siento if you don’t know how to habla Español. I understand enough to know that at the 10-minute mark, the narrator says that the number on the dial on the Monster’s Inc. practice scare room is actually the phone number for Pixar HQ! ¡Que fantastico!)

See any eggs you’ve never seen before? Know of any not listed?

Fan Girl Friday

Happy Friday (and happy New Year!) everyone!

I hope you’re ready for some awesomely nerdy finds! I can’t believe I haven’t done a Fan Girl Friday since LAST YEAR! (Cheap pun, but it had to be done.)

Have you seen The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug yet? I saw it a few weeks ago. It was…pretty good. Not as good as the first one, but still a must-see! If you go soon, you can keep comfy cozy in the cold weather with this awesome There and Back Again scarf:

One scarf to warm them all.

And speaking of The Hobbit, check out this LOTR-inspired dining room set from Geek Universe:

Huff the Hubs and I have been looking for a new bedspread. I wonder if I could convince him to indulge in this one? All I would need is a giant pencil-pillow!

All my best ideas come at night, now I can write them down!

The Doctor Who Christmas special aired a week and a half ago, but I didn’t get to watch it until this week. Not going to lie, it was a little hard to follow. And Capaldi’s regeneration? A little too quick for my taste. BUT, I’ll keep watching. And Maybe even nuzzle up with one of these plush pillows from BohoBear:

Sleep with visions of Time Lords dancing in your head.

Did anyone get video games for Christmas? I didn’t buy any for HtH this year because he still has some from TWO years ago that still have the plastic on them. Seriously. I’m afraid he’ll be a hoarder if I continue to buy him video games. Kind of like this guy. He’s got the largest collection of video games: 10,607 games and over different 100 consoles!
