Fan Girl Friday!

Fan Girl Friday New Background3

My little cousin is getting married this weekend, so I’ve had weddings on the brain for the last week or so. And, with it being summer and the season of weddings, I thought I would feature some awesome Etsy shops that carry everything and bride and groom would need for their nerdy nuptials!

Need a Save the Date that shows your love for comic books as well as your groom? Awkward Affections has what you need!

Comic Book Wedding Invite

Or maybe you’re looking for something a little more retro, like these invitations from The Inked Leaf:

Nintendo Wedding Invites

You’ll absolutely need something geeky to throw back the champagne! Glass Cannons has the goblets for you!

Frankenstein and Bride Topper

Splendorlocity has cake toppers for couples that are “out of this world”:

Fan Girl Friday New Background1

Happy Friday, geeklings! I’ve got some fandom finds that’s sure to tickle your fancy! Let’s dive right in to the geeky gear!

Y’all, I’m SO excited that Outlander is starting to really explode–mostly because there’s finally Sassenach swag!

10715396_hi

Seriously, how adorable is Hot Topic’s new Outlander line?! It’s fit for a lady that likes her men red-haired and kilted! Ye kin?

I’m not a big makeup girl. I mean, I wear the basics but only because I don’t want to scare the villagers when I attempt to leave the house with my two wildlings in tow. But I may need to practice so I can have a legit reason to buy these:

harry-potter-wand-brushes

Oh yes, those are Harry Potter makeup brushes! Each brush is designed to look like a character’s wand (lets just hope they don’t include the Elder Wand!). This will go great with the Butterbeer lip gloss from Shiro Cosmetics!

Y’all know I love Disney, but this next couple LURVES Disney! Just check out their magical wedding!

The groom and bride, Ty and Ashley, got engaged just steps away from Cinderella’s castle and wanted their wedding to be a reflection of their Disney-mania. Ashley wore a gown from Alfred Angelo’s Disney line and their cake toppers were replicas of Carl and Ellie’s chairs from Up! To see more pics, click here!

I’m fully convinced that no matter who wins the presidential election next month, we are on the verge of a zombie apocalypse. And, thanks to Think Geek, I’ll be prepared!

jmoi_mini_bugout_box

This mini bug-out box is stocked with 43 products you’ll need when the undead are knocking down your door: panic whistle, first aid kit, cutting blades, fishing gear and much more!

Happy fangirling!

Another end to another week and MAN it feels good!

I’ve searched high and low, near and far to find you the ultimate list of fandom finds!

Summer is officially over, which means wedding season is officially (mostly) over. On one hand, I’m happy about that. On another, I’m a little sad that I wasn’t invited to a wedding at Disney World. Why? Well, besides the obvious (Mickey Mouse, Epcot, singing pirates) I want to see the AH-MAZING cakes like this one in person! Check out what the magicians over at the House of Mouse have cooked up:

anigif_enhanced-buzz-6499-1412175464-6

How awesome is that?! The cake is able to project wrapped pictures on the cake and can even change to show where cake slices have been cut! Check out the Disney Wedding blog for more!

A few years ago, I was NOT at all into Zombies. That is, until I saw Zombieland. That was basically the genesis of my fascination with zombies. And, thankfully, there’s a sequel in the works!

zombieland 2

According to Cinema Blend, Ruben Fleischer (ZL’s director) is working with other execs and screenwriters to get a script going! Unfortunately, its unlikely that the original ensemble with make a reappearance. Sad panda.

Looking for a way to make pizza night just a little more fancy? Pillsbury.com has you covered! They recently perfected the art of pizza cakes. Yes, you read that right: pizza cakes.

pizza cake

I’m thinking this is the just the thing to bake for mine and Huff the hubs’ date night!

You guys know I have mad love for all things Harry Potter. I’ve read the books tons of times, I’ve been to midnight showings/releases, and I even named my daughter Hermione for goodness sakes! If ever there was an ultimate HP fan, its me. However, I think Menahem Asher Silva Vargas from Mexico City, Mexico has me beat.

hp

Homeboy has 3,097 pieces of Potter memorabilia! Yes, over 3K HP-themed figurines, stuffed animals, sweaters, flags, and so much more! His collection caught the attention of the folks at Guinness and is now on the books as the holder of the world’s largest Harry Potter collection! Merlin’s pants!

Speaking of fandoms, please don’t hurt yourself by rolling your eyes too hard at this next story.

I’m not ashamed to say that I have read all of the books in the Twilight series (multiple times) and went to all the midnight showings of the movies. Annnddd…. I threw a Breaking Dawn release party, complete with costumes. Having said that, I’m not as into the fangs from Forks as I used to be. I prefer my vamps from the East Coast (think: Mystic Falls, VA). But, for those of you who can’t get enough of Team Edward/Team Jacob, good news! They’re coming back! Well, sort of.

twilight

Lions Gate is partnering up with Twilight creator, Stephanie Meyer and will select five aspiring female directors to create short films in the Twilight universe! Whilst I could do without another screening of Bella, I think its awesome that LG and SM are trying to get young girls excited about film making. We need more female directors and storytellers…even if they make movies about an angsty teen whose in love with a centuries old vampire.

Happy Friday, peeps!

Summer is in full swing with the sweltering heat and scorching sun burning everyone to a Tan Mom crisp.

Summer also means San Diego Comic Con! Woo! And guess who’s making his first SDCC appearance? Its Baker Street’s sexiest sleuth!

ben

Yes! Benedict Cumberbatch will join the rest of The Penguins of Madagascar cast! Friday’s schedule for Comic Con has also been released! It jam-packed with all our favorite fandoms! There’s a Game of Thrones panel as well as The Walking Dead and Daniel Radcliffe will be appearing at SDCC for the first time promoting Horns!

I haven’t heard, but I’m willing to bet that there will be a Mockingjay: Part One panel too! And speaking of the people of Panem, check out this amazing new teaser trailer for the next film in The Hunger Games saga!

Not only does summer mean heat and conventions, it also means wedding season is here! My mailbox is getting flooded with invites! I’m hoping that some of the nuptuals I’m invited to have rings as awesome as these:

ring 2

Mine and Huff the Hubs anniversary is also coming up! I’m thinking I may need to drop some subtle hints that I want this!

Thrones Bookend

It’s The Iron Throne in bookend form! Protect your books from falling with a the pointiest of regal chairs!

Have a great weekend!

Fan Girl Friday

Ah, Friday, you sexy SOB. I’m so glad you’re here again. And I’m even more glad that you’ve brought some squeal-worthy fandom news and goodies to make us all pee our pants with excitement!

Guys, I’ve got movie and television news coming out the wazoo!

The highly-anticipated second-to-last film in The HUnger Games trilogy opens later this year! And we FINALLY have a first look at the film (other than the teaser at the end of Catching Fire). Check out Julianne Moore as President Coin:

pres coin

Of all the casting decisions for THG, I am MOST happy with this choice. When I read about President Coin, the person I envisioned was very, very similar to Moore’s representation. Why do you think? Like it? Hate it? Wish someone else was cast? You can get more Mockingjay news here!

Fairy tales are getting a lot more screen time here lately: ABC’s Once Upon a Time, NBC’s Grimm, and the feature film about Princess Aurora’s nemesis–Malificent–will be hitting the big screen May 30thNow we can add another film to the list–Cinderella. Kenneth Branagh (AKA, Professor Lockhart), director of Thor and Iron Man 2, is doing a live-action retelling of Cinderella! And the teaser trailer hit the web this week, making us Disney-Princess-lovin’-chicks squeal with delight! Check it out!

The CW is really trying hard to cash in on the super hero phenomenon. They’ve already got Arrow, they used to have Smallville, and coming this fall: The Flash. Take a look at the trailer for the show!

Star Wars Day was a few weeks ago, but its never too late to share some Jedi-inspired duds! Check out this awesome Star Wars themed wedding! Complete with light saber grooms cake! Click the link for more!

Have a happy weekend, fangirls and boys!

Fan Girl Thursday

I know its not Friday, but who says we can’t fangirl a day early?

This has been a great week of “squee”-worthy finds from all over the interwebs!

I used to have TEN TV shows I watched. TEN. A few were cancelled and few are on hiatus until the fall. Which means there’s an open slot of television time for this white girl. And I think I know what I’m going to fill it with!

This fall, Fox is running a prequel to my favorite fictional city (aside from Minas Tirith)–Gotham Freaking City. The series titled–what else?–Gotham follows a young detective named Jim Gordon as he tries to rid the streets of Bruce Wayne’s hometown before the caped crusader flew into existence. I think it looks really good:

The Amazing Spiderman 2 debuted last weekend (I didn’t see it…did you?) meaning that Emma Stone and her real–and reel (see what I did there?)–life boyfriend Andrew Garfield have been hitting up the late night circuit, promoting the new flick. Andrew stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (sans tights) to showcase one of his hidden talents:

I have already received about 10 invitations to weddings this summer. Although sadly, none have had this awesome of an invite. I seriously think Huff the Hubs and I need to redo our wedding just so we can do this! (Click the link for more)

harry potter wedding (2)

Now that we’re living with my sister, our evenings are filled with Oreos, wine, and lots of laughing at fart jokes. I think its time to add a little refinery to our household. And I’m pretty sure I’ve found JUST the thing!

pride and predjudice board game

Its Pride and Prejudice: The Board Game! Bingley’s the name and marriage is the game! Here’s the way to win: Elizabeth and Darcy, Jane and Bingley, Lydia and Wickham or Charlotte and Mr. Collins–pick one of four couples from the novel and maneuver them separately or together through town and countryside.  Be the first to collect all game tokens, then race to the Parish Church to marry and win the game!”

My sister and I made Huff the Hubs watch Pitch Perfect the other night, which has made me a little obsessed with acapella groups. So when I saw this on Pinterest, of course I HAD to repin. And watch. Seven times.

Fan Girl Friday

Happy Friday, peeps!

Today, Huff the Hubs started his furloughs so he helped me pick out all the awesomely nerdy finds for today! And let me tell you, he found A LOT! I guess this is one of the perks to getting an extra day off a week!

Summer is the time for weddings (I’ve already received about 250,000 invites for this summer alone!). Sometimes, when you go to one wedding, they seem like all the others. But not this one! Check out this comic-book/super hero themed wedding!

Holy nerdy wedding, Batman!

Holy nerdy wedding, Batman!

I especially love how they did the seating for the reception! I’d like to sit at the Harley Quinn & Joker table!

This next find was HtH’s FAVORITE. Its no secret that the man loves Legos, and when he saw this he was almost tempted to hide the Tardis Cookie Jar we use to keep our spatulas in just so we could order this from Apartment Therapy:

Just don't step on one of the pieces!

Just don’t step on one of the pieces!

This summer, I’ve been doing a lot of lounging by the pool or in the hammock at my dad’s Tiki Hut. I’ve been desperate for a good summer read and since I’ve had The Maze Runner from my sister for over a month and only read to Chapter Four… I think it may be time to switch it up. Thankfully, one of my favorite authors from my teen years just released a new book! Geek squee:

This cover gives me GOOSEBUMPS. Get it?

This cover gives me GOOSEBUMPS. Get it?

I’ve been reading mixed reviews about it. But that won’t stop me from the nostalgia of sitting outside reading R.L. Stine!

My niece and nephews (who just left from their visit here in OK…tear…) absolutely LOVE Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I mean they are bordering on the obsessive their love is so intense. So I think for Christmas, Aunt Jessie may have to order these for them from Think Geek:

Cowabunga, dude!

Finally, if you haven’t made any summer travel plans, I’ve got the trip for you! Check out this AMAZING Hobbit-themed motel in New Zealand! Isn’t it adorable?! I just hope that they serve food as often as Hobbits eat!
